C.E. BARNS PHILADELPHIA SHOW OCT. 14th, 1912 JORDAN TRIO 8 min F.S. Makes a very good opener. The two girls on the wire do all the regulation stunts and some others that are new. Make a fine appearance. Received scattered applause and made a good finish. ART BOWEN 11 min in one. Sings some good songs and illustrates them on two easels very well, making a dash after each line of song. Quite out of the ordinary line of cartoon stunts. Received some applause for each one of his songs and drawings, and closed well. Held this spot all right. GILLETT'S DOGS AND MONKEYS. 20 min. F.S. One of the best trained dog and monkey acts that we have ever had, exceeding even his last feature here. Great for the children. It was a positive scream from start to finish and could hold any spot with credit where an animal act is wanted. CONRAD & WHIDDEN 15 min in one. Advance applause. These boys scored an unqualified hit in this spot from start to finish. The pianist is a good comedian and an excellent musician, but the violinist goes him one better and certainly gets the audience going very strong and holds them to a great big finish. These boys could hold any spot with due credit. MASON KEELEY & CO. 28 min This is certainly a rapid-fire sketch and got continued laughter and applause. "Drunk" acts as a rule are not popular with our audience but in this farce there is nothing offensive and the lines as well as the business and situations kept the audience in the best of humor. Made a strong close. CHAS. & FANNIE VAN 17 min in one. This act is very amusing and the audience liked every minute of it, but it does not quite come up to their former sketch. However, it is really a winner for all that, and in just this spot on the bill went big. Closed O.K. LULU GLASER & CO 20 min F.S. Miss Glaser received a strong advance hand and the sketch was well received by a big audience today. The lines are very bright, some of the passages of the music exceptionally fine, and on the whole, it was found to be thoroughly all right. Mr. Richards has a fine voice and an imposing stage presence, so that Miss Glaser's support is all that could be desired. Received a fine closing hand, with curtain calls. DONOVAN & McDONALD. 28 min. in 1 1/2. This is one of the most original and interesting Irish sketches we have ever played. Its only drawback is that it was a little too long during the first half and from five to ten minutes will be cut out of the twenty-eight. It is really a gem of Irish humor and would make a hit anywhere. With the help of two "plants" in the audience, the "hat" finish got the big laugh. Held this hard spot in good shape. THE THREE MORI BROS. 9 min. F. S. A regulation Japanese juggling act, getting the usual comedy out of the barrel-tossing from one side of the stage to the other in the risley work. Makes an acceptable closer. KINETOGRAPH. Up to the standard. GEN. REM. This is an excellent show and seemed to satisfy everybody. Think it will be a business-winner. Ran a little over time today on account of giving baseball returns between the acts. CUTS CHARLES VAN: Word "damn" DONOVAN & McDONALD: Words "damn" and "hell"
