B.F. KEITH'S HIPPODROME Week of Oct. 21st, 1912 Cleveland, Ohio REDFORD & WINCHESTER - - 16 minutes. Special in three. This act is well known on the circuit of having presented about the same stuff for a number of years. They generally go very well and their present engagement is no exception to the rule. Could hold a better spot without any trouble. (Dayton) JIMMY LUCAS - - 13 minutes in one. Seemed to be just about strong enough to hold down this spot. Fair act. Fair applause. (Indianapolis) THE BELL FAMILY - - 29 minutes, palace in 4. The best musical act we have ever had in the house. It cleaned up the program, and we moved it to the headline position, putting The Dance Dream third. The act is the talk of the town and has really created a sensation here. Newspaper interviews kept the act busy Tuesday morning. It will make good in any spot on the bill, and no company is too fast for it. They play classical and rag-time music, execute dances that brought our audiences to their feet, wear $8000.00 worth of costumes, and we found it necessary to lower the curtain in order to get them away from the audience. Their rendition of the National Anthem brought the entire Hippodrome to its feet, and there the audience stayed until the number was concluded. The act is a real headliner. (Chicago) HUNTING & FRANCIS - - Comedy skit "Love Lozenges". 16 minutes in 1. Tony Hunting, late of the Four Huntings and his wife. A very funny act, which went over. (Chicago) THE DANCE DREAM - - Special cyclorama. 14 minutes. Seven people. This act is very refined, even classy, but it lacks the punch to make it the headliner this week. The man at its head cannot sing and is not over-burdened with grace. The act is in altogether too fast company with this show to stand out prominently and make good the advertising that we gave it. The Monday audiences expected something very big and there was no hesitancy on their part in showing their disappointment. The act was moved up to third place, but it is just about where it belongs in this show. (New York) HARRY FOX & THE MILLERSHIP SISTERS - - 17 minutes in one. I think this is the last time that we want to play this fellow in this act. When he first left burlesque and came along with his smart chatter he was an instantaneous hit. The stuff is getting stale now and the fact that he has played the Winter Garden has swelled his head to such an extent that he takes liberties with his audiences that he should not take. The act in its present state is not worth $400.00, nor half that amount. I do not care to play him again until someone takes the conceit out of him - - - and until he gets a new line of talk. (Chicago) TROVOLLO - - Ventriloquist. 18 minutes in 3, close in one. Special scenery just like the act of last season. Fairly amusing, but not a big hit. (Dayton) KITTY TRANEY - - High school Riding Act. Juggling, balancing and a number of other novelties. A clever closing act which will make good. 10 minutes in 4. (Detroit) Palmer C. Slocum
