78 Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of November 11, 1912. CHAS. LOVENBERG, Manager. The show played well; the audience seemed pleased, and we will probably do some business with this bill. JULIA REDMOND & CO. In a comedy sketch called "The Critic and the Girl;" fairly well played and the comedy got over in pretty good shape; act is all right to play early in the bill in the smaller cities. 20 Min. F. S. SAMPSELL & REILLY This act did about as well here as they have been credited with in other cities; it is all right for the spot. 13 Min. in One. VAN HOVEN Comedy magician; really started the show going at this point; had them howling all the time he was on the stage; real big hit. 14 Min. in One. DON, the Talking Dog Introduced by Loney Haskell. I was a little apprehensive as to how this act would go, but it gave very evident satisfaction; the dog worked pretty well at this first performance; I think it is quite remarkable myself, and I believe the thinking people will agree with me. Haskell's presentation of the act adds considerably to it. 13 Min. in Two. Kate ELINORE & Sam WILLIAMS In an act partly new and partly old, some of it dating back to the old Elinore Sisters' days and that part of it seemed to go the best. I think we have got pretty near all there is out of this act for some time to come. 20 Min. in One. EVA TAYLOR & CO. Comedy sketch "Just Married," re-named "On the Q.T.:2 a good lively act not particularly well played, but nevertheless got the laughs. 20 Min. in Three. MATTHEWS & ALSHAYNE An act that has been described full in other reports. Went very strongly indeed. 17 Min. in One. THE APOLLO TRIO Bronze statue and strong man act; very effective indeed; went well; closed the show in great shape. 8 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES Pathe Weekly - O .K. With this week we are discontinuing the use of the Pathe Weekly; although we have first run of these pictures, after trying it out from the beginning of the season, I find that the audience cares less for these pictures than they do for the regular comedy or dramatic ones. Not nearly as many people have stayed as they did on the old style pictures; personally, I don't blame them, for many times they seem tedious to me.
