98 C.E. BARNS PHILADELPHIA SHOW November 25, 1912 WARD & WEBER 9 min in one and a half. (Too good an act to open an ordinary show, but on account of its being holiday week, am using it in that position here.) A ripping good dancing act and makes a fine opener. Carry their own drop which is effective and dress their act well. Good applause and finished well. DU CALION 14 min in one. this man certainly made a hit. He is not only extraordinarily expert on the ladder but he is a genuine humorist and his act from start to finish got big applause. Could hold a strong spot on any bill. EDW BLONDELL & CO. 20 min F.S. "THE LOST BOY" This sketch amused the crowd immensely and is one of the best Rube features that we have had in some time. quite off the beaten track. Plenty of laughter and applause throughout and made a good finish. Held this spot in great shape. CONNOLLY & WENRICH 20 min in one. Advance applause. these people made a hit and no mistake. Every number was strongly applauded and the audience was loth to let them go. They had to give a repetition of the last song "Kentucky Days" to big applause. Miss Connolly's work is eminently satisfactory and she makes a very fine appearance in four changes of costume. Closed very strong. "DICK" 12 min F.S. Same act as presented here before and received very good applause. Dog works well and the fact that the lecturer is a good showman and speaks English amusing in broken English helps the act. Went very well throughout and made a good close. LEW HAWKINS 15 min F.S. A good deal of his old material and some of the new, particularly travesties. Held this spot in good shape and closed well with a burlesque on "Kentucky Days" that was sung by Conolly & Wenrich. "EVERYWIFE" 33 min F.S. When we played this act a year ago, it scored a hit. While it went very well today, it did not compare by any means with the way it went when first here, due largely to the substitution of inferior people in the cast. Held the spot nicely however, and made an excellent impression. SHERMAN, VAN & HYMAN 14 min in one. A fine line of songs mightily well put over and very fast from start to finish. Received constant applause and made a fine close. Held the spot in fine shape. BOGGANY'S "LUNATIC BAKERS". 11 min F.S. One of the best closing acts we have ever played. The work is expert and swift and what is more, the comedy is immense. Constant laughter and applause with a big finish. KINETOGRAPH Used the composite film this week with a short comedy reel for Thanksgiving Day. GENERAL REMARKS. This show was built for the Thanksgiving Holiday week and fits the bill in every particular. There is plenty of comedy, good music and best of all, it works fast. Suits the demands of the holiday crowd.
