155 Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of January 6, 1913. A very good show that seemed to please a big Monday afternoon audience, despite a tiresome delay in the opening of the performance, due to the late arrival of the large amount of scenery carried by the 'More Sinned Against Than Usual" Co., which played a Sunday evening in Brooklyn. JED and ETHEL DOOLEY A neat little couple in a little singing, some pretty good dancing, a little cycling and some roping. Not a big act by any means, but a pleasant little opening act. The boy has a likable personality and considerable ability but the girl does not amount to much. 10 Min. F. S. Close in one about 4 Min. LA TOSCA & CO. An operatic soprano of pleasing appearance and fair voice assisted by two young men who play piccolo, clarinet, organ and cello. Boys got more applause than the star. In this city where musical acts usually go well it pleased in a small way. 13 Min. F. S. PEALSON & GOLDIE Two men in songs, talking and whistling. Men have good voices of the kind that makes popular appeal and the act went very well indeed. 15 Min. in One. MAXIM'S MODELS A beautiful act. Subjects well chosen and the slides preceding each picture and telling something about it or about the artist who painted it seems to me to add to the interest quite a little. Only two nude subjects included in the present program - "The Sword Dance" and "Evening Idylles" - but these are so artistic and free from objectionable features that even the most prudish could do nothing but admire. The kind of an act we could play year after year with change of subjects. Pleased all parts of the house, each picture getting hearty applause. 18 Min. F.S. Maude MULLER & Ed STANLEY Talking and singing. The woman is very clever in kidding and the man an exceptionally good feeder. Woman also has an unusually good voice for a comedienne and wore a stunning gown. 19 Min. in One. "MORE SINNED AGAINST THAN USUAL" A better title for advertising purposes than the briefer "HAZEL WESTON" This travesty on the old-fashioned rural melodrama is not only unique but very funny. Our audiences simply howled at it. Has its own miniature stage and rather elaborate stage settings, snowstorm, et cetera, and burlesque illustrated songs between the acts. Not only is the act a novelty and well-written but admirably produced and with an all-round good company who are responsible for much of its success. 38 Min. F. S. RAYMOND & CAVERLY Same act these men gave us before and with the usual number of cuts. No matter how many times they play our houses they still have to be told to cut "You fool," parodies like "It's a BEAR" and "Row, Row, Row" and the others they attempt. However, even with the cuts, they held this hard spot, with the show very late, fairly well. 18 Min. in One. ROEHM'S ATHLETIC GIRLS Bag punching, wrestling, boxing and fencing, all indifferently done. Something of a novelty, however to see girls doing this kind of work and the two girls who box and wrestle are rather pretty, so that helps them to get by fairly well. 12 Min. MOTION PICTURES O. K.
