16[2] CRITICISM OF B.F. KEITH'S UNION SQUARE THEATRE--WEEK JANUARY 6th. 1913. DARE BROTHERS.. Two good looking chaps who give some marvelous equilibristic feats. A very refined specialty and one that could either close the show or go in the center of the bill. Worthy of a much better position. Eight minutes in one and one half. CROUCH AND WELCH.. "That Lively Pair", a good fast skit that secured a big hand of applause and plenty of laughs, and one that can go down farther on any bill. Twelve minutes, full stage, close in one. LOUISE BREHANY AND MARY AMBROSE.. Miss Brehany is well known as a comic opera star, having played the Keith Circuit numerous times. Mary Ambrose is from the English Music Halls. They appear in a musical skit called "Waiting for Mr. Booker". Miss Brehany makes a very pleasing appearance and gets by with her songs, although her voice lacks volume, it had once. While Miss Ambrose is a good pianiste and violiniste, the act lacks finish. Presume they could pass muster if they would resort to a straight musical act. At present the offering will not do. CHAS. C. DREW & CO. Two men in a satirical railway episode, called "Mr. Flynn from Lynn". Rather an amusing comedy with a lot of bright lines that holds this position in good shape. In a show of larger calibre, presume they could hold second position. Eleven minutes in one and one half. ADELAIDE HERRMANN.. Presenting a series of illusions. While the audience does not enthuse to any great extent, presume they appreciate this womans work The illusions are well done and she makes a very good appearance. The act is rather spectacular and could make good in any house where she has not been seen. The small houses could use her as a headliner and get by. Twenty-two minutes, full stage. THE DEKOE TRIO.. Two men, woman and a midget in a series of equilibristic and acrobatic stunts that are marvelous. They have another youngster, below the limit age, that we are unable to play, and who, I understand is a wonder. However it is a good closing number and could be a headliner anywhere. Eight minutes full stage.
