177 Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of January 20, 1913. CHAS. LOVENBERG, Manager. The show didn't play as well as I hoped it would; at best it can only be called fair. ARCHIE ONRI & CO. This young man is a very clever juggler, but he lacks absolutely any personality and injures his act, which is a comedy one, by appearing in a straight make-up. Could be made a much better act than it is. Only fair. 12 Min. F. S. HARVEY-DEVORA TRIO Man, woman and little colored boy, and if ever they lose the boy, they will have to go back to the farm; the woman manages to get by, but the man is something awful. I wouldn't want to play the act in Pawtucket. 13 Min. in One. BEATRICE INGRAM & CO. In a dramatic sketch called "The Grafters." There is the foundation here for a very fine playlet; has some very startling situations and a big surprise. Miss Ingram intended playing it a few weeks to show it with a view of a route for next season, but she feels that it is not yet in proper shape and is going to take it off to have it fixed up. It went over fairly well as it is, but its too good a piece of property to spoil by playing until it is re-arranged 18 Min. F. S. JAS. F. MC DONALD Well-known singing comedian, who did fairly well. 17 Min. in One. MERLIN Comedy magician; about the best manipulator of cards I ever saw; got a good many laughs and considerable applause at the finish, but didn't go as well as I have seen him go in other places. 18 Min. short opening in Two, remainder of the act in One. "A PERSIAN GARDEN" with Louis SIMON & Kathryn OSTERMAN & co. I will have to admit that I am a little bit disappointed in this act; it didn't live up to what has been said of it in other cities. At the first performance I had it closing the show, but found it advisable to move it up to this spot. It is by no means a bad act, in fact in many spots it is extremely funny. The production is not nearly as good as it should be, in fact it shows a good deal of wear; the music is not attractive, nor particularly well sung. While a first rate act and a worthy headliner, it is overpaid by considerable money. 37 Min. F. S. HOEY & LEE Well-known Hebrew comedians and parodists. Cleaned up; the hit of the show. 16 Min. in One. FOUR CLIFTONS 4 men in feats of strength and hand balancing; some unusual feats; act is good; by no means a riot. MOTION PICTURES O. K.
