178 C. E. BARNS PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JAN. 20, 1913. FLYING RUSSELLS. 6 min. F.S. These people are very expert and their work on the trapeze is sometimes positively thrilling. Could hold a better spot on the bill with credit and even close a good show. Plenty of applause. THE DANCING KLEINS. 9 min. in one. Man and woman. This is a good act for an early spot on the bill. The woman makes a good appearance and makes a change of costume to that of boy. Made a good finish. Act was put on in the afternoon on account of the non-appearance of Peppino, and only for one show. CORTIS & FLORENCE. 18 min. F.S. Miss Florence is a very pretty woman and a good actress, but her support leaves much to be desired. Sketch held the attention of the audience fairly well and is all right for the upper half of a bill. HEIM CHILDREN. 17 min. in one. Well known here and popular. Received an advance hand. Introduced a lot of new stuff and all of it is amusing. Constant applause and laughter throughout their work and the surprising finish is very amusing. FOUR ATHLETAS. 10 min. F.S. These young ladies make a very fine appearance in their fleshings and go through various stunts with grace and skill. One of them is particularly strong and carries the act to success. Held this spot in great shape and closed very well. MME. OLGA PETROVA. 18 min. in one. Makes a very fine appearance in a magnificent gown and is a woman of wonderful grace and charm with a beautiful figure, Titian hair and Parisian manner. Sang the "Poll Parrot" song, also the "cat" song in a most entertaining way and after that everything was easy. Gave an interpretation of "Sapho" and closed with a French version of "Oh You Beautiful Doll." Each number was well applauded and the finish was so big that Mme. Petrova was compelled to make a little speech. EDNA GOODRICH & CO. "The Awakening of Minerva." 27 min. F.S. this is a well written sketch along the familiar lines of the awakening statue, in which Miss Goodrich has an opportunity to display her charms, both in the classic robes of Greece and the modern Parisian gown. Her support is good and on the whole, the act held the interest all the way through closing with a big hand. MACK & ORTH. 26 min. in one. These boys are very great favorites in this their home town and varied their old act with some new songs and held this hard spot in good shape with laughter and applause throughout, closing strong. "CHEYENNE DAYS." 15 min. F.S. A good closing act that we have played here before, full of dash and wild West atmosphere. Good applause and a big finish. KINETOGRAPH. "Bringing Home the Pup." A very amusing comedy film, particularly pleasing to the children. GENERAL REMARKS. This show played off to everybody's satisfaction, and should win the crowds for the balance of the week. Capacity matinee today. CUT HEIM CHILDREN: Talking to patrons coming in. NIGHT SHOW-- RAE ELEANOR BALL, Violinist. 14 min. in 1. Modest, talented and fine-appearing, dressed in white, with hair in braids. Held the audience in good shape with three numbers exceptionally well rendered without resorting to rag-time, posing or anything of that kind, appealing to the audience on the score of merit wholly. Scored a hit. This is an act that could hold a much harder spot on any bill and do it entire justice. Compelled to give an encore.
