191 B. F. KEITH'S HIPPODROME Week of Jan. 27th, 1913 Cleveland, Ohio WENTWORTH, VESTA & TEDDY ) ) Two men, acrobats and a dog- - and if the dog dies there will be no act. Work 11 minutes in one and pleased the audience immensely. Very liberal applause. Act open next week but should be working. KAUFMAN BROTHERS - - Couple of Minstrels who sing and talk [12? 18?] minutes in one. All kinds of applause and I believe they could have worked 25 minutes if the audience had had it's way. (Pittsburg) FRANKLYN ARDELL & CO - - Man and woman in a comedy sketch entitled "The Suffragette". The act runs 14 minutes. C.D.F. office set and is one of the best comedy acts we have ever had in the Hippodrome. It's new to Cleveland and the audience just simply ate it up. (Dayton) EIGHT ENGLISH ROSES - - Open in, close in 5. 8 minutes. Act is well known. The girls seem to work just as well as ever and the audience voted the act first class. (Columbus) FRANK MORRELL - - Working blackface. 15 minutes in one. Tells some jokeless jokes but sings well. If he'd stick to singing and cut out the comedy he'd go much better. However, the audience was satisfied and he received his share of the applause. (St. Louis) GEO. BEBAN & CO - "The Sign of the Rose". Special set, 29 minutes. guess everybody knows this act pretty well by this time. I don't think that Beban has surrounded himself with as good a company this year as he formerly had on his other visits. However, his work is just as classy as ever and he made his usual big hit. Several curtain calls. (Chicago) FOUR ENTERTAINERS - - Quartet of men working 13 minutes in one. This act was handicapped because Frank Morrell had rehearsed some of their songs and they had to change the program, which may have had something to do with the fact that they went only fairly well. (Atlanta) MARY BARLEY'S BULLDOGS - - Special set in 2, 6 minutes. The act is a novelty with plenty of good comedy and the audience seemed to like it immensely, (Louisville) NOTE: One of the cheapest shows we have had in the Hippodrome this season - - and one of the best. there isn't a poor act on the bill and I have never seen a show as a whole get a greater amount of applause.
