234 B. F. KEITH'S THEATRE, CINCINNATI, O. Week of Feb. 23, 1913. WINSLOW & STRYKER: Roller skating. 8 min. F. S. Some good work by the man. Went good. BRIDGEPORT, CONN. EUNICE BURNHAM & CHARLES IRWIN: Miss Burnham at the piano. 16 min. in one. Songs. Went good, particularly Mr. Irwin's character songs. GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. HOWARD, THE SCOTCH VENTRILOQUIST: 24 min. F. S. except closing 5 min. in one. An enjoyable act. Went good. INDIANAPOLIS. GEO. ROLLAND & CO. in "FIXING THE FURNACE": Comedy sketch. 16 min. F. S. own set. There are several passages in this sketch that approach very closely to vulgarity. Of course some people laugh at this smut. After Sunday matinee, the sketch was disinfected, and made presentable to decent people. It has a good laughing finish. OPEN NEXT WEEK. THREE WONDERFUL SINGERS: Three men in evening dress. 15 min. in one. The tenor voice throws the singing out of harmony, but the audience Sunday did not seem to notice this, and the act went strong. OPEN NEXT WEEK. "DINKELSPIEL'S CHRISTMAS": 24 min. F. S. The same old sketch, and the same leading characters. The third time here within two years, but going as big as ever, and is the one act that saved the show. INDIANAPOLIS. HAWTHORNE & BURT: Comedy sketch, entitled "At Sea". 21 min. in one, with their own two drops. A lot of senseless talk, with nothing in it to command. Went only fair. Don't belong in this spot; in fact, the act is too weak for this house. OPEN NEXT WEEK - THEN LOUISVILLE. [FORRER & EDGIRETTU'S?] "THE ACT BEAUTIFUL": 9 min. F. S., own drapery. Presenting a dozen or more scenes of hunting poses with man, woman, horse and dogs. Very pretty, and got some applause. TOLEDO. PATHE'S WEEKLY: 12 minutes. REMARKS: The show is the weakest we have had in a long time. With the exception of "Dinkelspiel's Christmas", the show is devoid of comedy, life and other noteworthy features that have characterized our shows for the past few weeks. Claudius & Scarlett, on arrival Sunday morning, refused to go on in second place, and the show was given with 7 acts both performances Sunday, with a picture reel in second place. Monday afternoon the vacancy was supplied with Burnham & Irwin. CUTS: The last verse in the song by Burnham & Irwin, which concludes with "You can't warm your feet on bones and skin". In act of George Rolland & Co., "Fixing the Furnace", the expressions: "Lay her down and lubricate her damper"; "Take my advice and get that clock fixed", in referring to the birth of triplets, - and other similar dirt and obscenity. C. L. Doran.
