Hippodrome, Cleveland, Jan. 29. GORDON BROS AND KANGAROO---Two men in a bag punching exhibition, assisted by kangaroo for comedy finish. A very good act and could hold a better position. Gar. in 4---9 min. (JOHNSTOWN) HENRY CLIVE assisted by MAE WALKER---Same stuff Clive has always done. I think we have him too early on the bill. He has always made good here, but in this spot the audience walks in on him, and he did not seem to get them. 11 min. in one. (DETROIT) FIVE MELODY MAIDS AND JIMMY O'BRIEN---A miniature Pianophiend act. Four girls play on four pianos, and the other sings with Mr. O'Brien. It's a good act, and won deserved applause. Some one interested in the act should cut the announcement made by Nellie wood, with a "Thank you" on the end. She can surely play a piano--but not speaking parts. C D F in 3--14 min Close in one 2 min (Short wait before next act) (TOLEDO) GERALD GRIFFIN & CO---"Other People's Money"---Three women and one man. Griffen's name is a good drawing card most anywhere here in the west. He always has good material, and our peopl[e] always seem to enjoy his offerings. Act went better today than when here last. C D F in 3---20 min. (NEW YORK) RAY L ROYCE---I have never known this man to fall down in any spot on any bill. He was as big a hit today as ever? Same old act, but they never seem to tire of it. A big hand at the finish. 17 min. drop in one. (ATLANTA) KITAMURA JAPANESE---Act is too well known for comment. Always goes well in most any part of a show. Clevelanders like them. A beautiful setting, and plenty of applause. F S---12 min. (COLUMBUS) CLARICE VANCE---Haven't played her here in several moons. Put her music in her trunk so we couldn't have a rehearsal. However it didn't seem to matter. They were very glad to see her again. 12 min. in one. (COLUMBUS) PAULINE---First appearance here. His name is unknown, but we headlined him, and I am sure he will make good. They will begin to talk tomorrow, and by Wednesday we will be doing business His second trip will be better for us than this one. They liked him today, and I am sure he will draw money the last half of the week. 22 min (NORFOLK)
