Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of March 18, 1912. CHAS. LOVENBERG, Manager. The show is the best that we have had in some weeks. This is our International Bill, introducing acts characteristic of several nations. The novelty of the thing seemed to appeal and the show is remarkably good for a freak show of that kind, although a couple of the acts are weak. The SANDERS TROUPE Billed as the SANDROWSKI Troupe. Russian dancers; very good act of its kind. 8 Min. F. S. STEWART & MARSHALL Colored comedians. Two men doing the eccentric darky kind of stuff, not particularly good, but all right for this spot. 12 Min. in One. The GORDON HIGHLANDERS Well-known act that has been making good all along the line and which was a decided hit today. 23 Min. F. S. Can close in One. LEWIS & DODY This act pleased; in fact it may be classed as quite a good act, although it seems to me that Lewis hasn't borne out the promise that he gave when he was with the Sharkey, Geissler & Lewis act. However, they made good and that is all that is necessary. 18 Min. in One. The IRISH SINGERS This is probably the weakest act in the bill besides Stewart & Marshall. They lend themselves to advertising possibilities and probably will draw some money but the act has a most amateurish aspect and is only fit on its merits for the small time houses. I think with proper staging and handling something could be brought out of it. 19 Min. F.S. BELLE BLANCHE Well-known singing comedienne, who pleased most decidedly. 15 Min. in One. "MEIN LEIBCHEN" A German comedy sketch by Geo. Hobart. It is a splendid sketch and the part of the talkative, slangy young woman is excellently played by Miss Mable Carruthers. Miss Justina Wayne is fairly good and the two men who play the Germans are possible, although disappointing. They could be improved upon materially. The young man who plays the juvenile is bad but the sketch is so good that together with Miss Carruthers's work, it scored a decided hit in spite of the handicaps. 21 Min. F. S. The WARD BROS. These boys have a novelty in the manner of make-up and presentation of songs and dances, all of which are out of the ordinary and they held this spot in good shape. 12 Min. in One. ASAHI TROUPE Japanese magic and risley work; made a strong finish for a very good bill. MOTION PICTURES O. K.
