C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. APRIL 1, 1912. ROSAIRE & DORETO. 8 min. F.S. A good knockabout opener of the regulation Rice and Prevost order. Some of the heavy falls got laughter. Closed fairly strong. FROZINI. 12 min. in one. This man made a hit in this spot, every one of his selections getting big applause and closing strong. Could hold a much better spot on any bill and make good. BERT CUTLER. 15 min. F.S. Well known to Philadelphians and got an advance hand. His billiard shots are interesting to everybody whether billiard experts or not, and his confidential line of talk puts him "next" to his audience in a very pleasing way. Uses a big mirror back of his billiard table so that his really extraordinary work can be seen in the orchestra as well as from above. Applause throughout and closed well. MELVILLE & HIGGINS. 19 min. in one. Varied their act somewhat from their last engagement here, introducing some new material that was very amusing. In fact, the act was a hit all the way through, the lines being witty and the songs very good. Closed very well. MR. & MRS. ERWIN CONNELLY. 23 min. F.S. This old playlet is worthy of a revival, and as done by Mr. and Mrs. Connelly held the interest of the audience throughout with its two pretty scenes and tender sentiments. Could hold a strong spot on any bill. BROWN & AYER. 19 min. in one. These boys got an advance hand and put over their songs and patter in good shape. Received applause throughout and closed very well. All right for any good spot. "ANTIQUE GIRL." 35 min. F. S. A typical Lasky sketch put on elaborately as far as scene setting and costuming are concerned, and the cast well selected. Plenty of good music, good comedy by Pusey, and held the interest of the crowd all the way through. A very original idea carried out exceptionally well. Closed big. BARRY & WOLFORD. 15 min. in one. A great line of patter that caught the crowd very strong with some good songs and a very funny closing medley of old jokes. A1 for this spot. GRUBER'S ANIMALS. 11 min. F.S. this is one of the best animal acts we have had here with the trained elephant, horse, pony and dog, and the improvement since it was last seen on the circuit is certainly notable. The routine is absolutely perfect and it is showman-like in every particular. Closing a late show this afternoon, it got a strong round of applause on every stunt and had a tremendous finish. This act goes with "Buffalo Bill" for the Summer and certainly should be routed up for next season. KINETOGRAPH. Pathe film of International Films. Very interesting series. GENERAL REMARKS. A good, live, popular show that played off very well with extraordinarily good features to send them out happy. In spite of the fact that it is Holy Week, we ought to do the business. CUTS "ANTIQUE GIRL" CO. Word "damn" also expression "I'll be damned."
