B. F. KEITH'S HIPPODROME Cleveland, Ohio - April 1, 1912 MLLE. LORETTE & DOG- - Visions in old Gold Statues. 9 minutes in 2. working in a green plush frame. A fairly good posing act, which held the opening position well, and received an appreciative hand at the finish (Altoona) HUGH BLANEY - - Descriptive and Dialect Singer. 14 minutes in 1. Blaney's dialect consists of one Irish and one negro songs, while his descriptive powers lie mainly in wilding gesturing with his arms. He cannot sing, and would be a minus quantity in any other place on the bill (Syracuse) WILLARD SIMMS & CO- - "Flinders Furnished Flat". 22 minutes. Open C.D.F., close in 1. The sketch portion of the act is along the rougher and burlesque order, unlike many offerings we have had. A few people smiled, but there was no enthusiasm until Simms began his comic opera burlesque in 1, and then the laughs were stinted, as the entire offering is not up to the standard of the high class acts we have shown (Buffalo) YE COLONIAL SEPTETTE "An Olde Tyme Halloween Party" Three scenes, two of them in 2, and the third, colonial interior, C.D.F. in full stage. Settings brought applause. The costuming excellent, the music fair. Hippodrome stage seemed to worry the act and the members experienced difficulty in reading their lines loud enough to be heard. One song number badly sung, should be eliminated from repertoire of music. 24 minutes (Toledo) MERRILL & OTTO - - "After the Shower" Man and woman, 15 minutes in 1. A well dressed talking act. Well received. One song and dance number. A hit. MACKLYN ARBUCKLE & CO - "The Reform Candidate" 26 minutes. C. D.F. office, 4 people. A clever playlet, well offered. A Politician theme, especially suited to present day conditions and Arbuckle's personality. Went big (Brooklyn) EDWARD, RYAN & TIERNEY - - 9 minutes in 1, using piano. A fair trio. We have had better. The boys use new songs, which they talk better than sing. Well received. (Atlanta) AHEARN TROUPE ) Bicyclists - - 11 minutes in 3, spl drop. the funniest act we have had this season, introducing every kind of wheel. Too bad to waste it in this position. There was just one continuous laugh. (Syracuse) Palmer C. Slocum
