Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of April 8, 1912. CHAS. LOVENBERG, Manager. We have an exceptionally good bill this week, considering the amount of money expended aside from Mme. Kalich. Every act did reasonably well. Some of them exceptionally so. R. A. G. TRIO Well-known rathskeller act. It doesn't seem to me to be as good as when they played here before altho it is all right at a reasonable salary. Could go down a peg further. 12 Min. in One. GORDON & MARX Dutch comedy act, who scored very strongly. Could have held a better spot. 16 Min. in One. EDWIN STEVENS & CO. In a comedy sketch introducing various types and characters, who did very well indeed, not so much because of the material as because of Mr. Stevens' exceptional ability. 21 Min. F. S. CLAUDIUS & SCARLETT Banjoists, who feature the exploitation of the words of old time songs on the picture screen while they play the musical accompaniment. This is a "buncombe" act. However it pleases the audience and gets lots of applause but the same thing could be done with the orchestra playing the music and saving the salary of the actor. Their banjo playing is very ordinary. 13 Min. in One. MME. BERTHA KALICH & CO. In "The Light From St. Agnes." Any stage should be honored by the presence of Mme. Kalich and by the work done by her and Mr. Harrington of her supporting company. This sketch is a remarkably good one. To say that it scored a hit would be expressing it most mildly. I have no doubt that Mme. Kalich will be worth to us all that we pay her. 31 Min. F. S. MELVILLE & HIGGINS It is unnecessary to comment upon this act other than to say that they scored as well here as they have been doing all along the line. 20 Min. in One. HERMANY'S ANIMALS This little act answers our purposes. It contains some dogs, two cats and a goat. There is a general air of novelty about it but it just falls short of being more than fairly good. 9 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O. K. This is the closing week of our vaudeville season, consequently there will be no further reports sent out until next fall. However, I should like to have the houses with whom we have been exchanging continue sending me reports while they are open.
