B. F. Keith's Hippodrome Week April 8th, 1912 Cleveland, Ohio MARSAILLES - - Contortionist. 8 minutes in one. Splendid opening act, well offered and well received A few departures perhaps, in the line of twists and turns, but done by an artist. (Milwaukee) THREE VAGRANTS - - Singers and musicians. 17 minutes in 1. This trio offers vocal, guitar and accordeon music. Dress the act as vagrants The character of their music rathern that its quality and rendition gained it applause at the finish (Open) CROUCH & WELCH- - Dancers and Comedy Conversationalists. 11 minutes Open C.D.F., close in one. Long drawn-out comedy and very clever eccentric dancing. Both mand and woman work contortion in the act, which went over for a big hand. (Brooklyn) BERT WHEELER & CO -- "Fun on the Boulevard" Pantomime with a car-load of trick stuff, working 14 minutes, full stage? Everything happens from automobile explosions to very clever juggling. Comedy very mediocre. Two men and woman and one of each sex in excess baggage class. Close with good hand (Syracuse) CLIFFORD & BURKE - - Eccentric Dancers and Delineators of Coon Songs. 18 minutes in one. The billing is mis leading, as the greater part of this act is talking, some songs and dances follow. They use a special set of a warship. A decidedly light affair and not at all up to the standard of black-face teams we have played (Open) WILLIAM H. THOMPSON & CO - - Dramatic sketch "The Wise Rabbi" 20 minutes f.S. An unusually heavy act and while dealing with creed questions is not at all objectionable. Thompson and his supporting cast do all that can be desired in the way of artistic acting. There were frequent interruptions by applause. (Open going to New York) BELLE BAKER - - Singing Comedienne - - 15 minutes in 1. This girl works hard and goes over nicely. Her costumes are elaborate, her songs popular ones worked into clever bits. The spot light is ever present, but at both Monday performances the girl deservedly won the applause she received. (Partially advised Columbus) CHEYENNE DAYS - - Cowboys, cowgirls, nucking bronchos and rope throwing. 18 minutes f.s. One of the very best closing acts we have had here this season. One to produce talk, as its interest is held up by clever comedy and daring riding. Audience waited and applauded (Partially advised Columbus) Palmer C. Slocum
