C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. MAY 13, 1912. WOOD BROS. 11 min. F. S. Start off with a song which was fairly good. Then proceed to their athletic work with the rings which is very good indeed and gets strong applause. While one man is working, the other gets off some "daffydills," and on the whole, the act is thoroughly satisfactory as an opener and could hold a better spot. "QUICK." 8 min. in one. This man certainly draws caricatures with extraordinary rapidity and all his cartoon hits got a good hand. Held the spot in fine shape and is one of the best lightning cartoonists we have ever had. Closed well. KLUTING'S ANIMALS. 17 min. F.S. A very showy and pleasing animal act consisting of household pets including dogs of various kinds and sizes, cats, rabbits and pigeons. Act is put on in showman-like manner and the stunts done are very clever, particularly the work of the rabbits and cats. Abundant applause throughout and closed very well. A very good act for the children. LYONS & YOUNG. 14 min. in one. These boys are very great favorites here and everything they did got strong applause, as they well deserve, for their work is better than ever, both cello, harp and songs. Made a smashing big finish. R. A. ROBERTS. 40 min. F. S. Mr. Roberts produced this sketch here before, but it was so brilliant and fine on this presentation that it seemed absolutely new and certainly more romantic and picturesque than ever. One of the most artistic productions in vaudeville and judging from the way it was received with most interesting consideration during the spoken parts and applause every time he made a change, the act seemed to be an entire success and justified the big headline billing. Closed very strong. LYDIA BARRY. 24 min. in one. Miss Barry gave several songs and imitations in various changes of costume, all of which were well applauded. Had a little trouble in getting hold of the crowd at first, but finally won out very well with original material. Closed well. As single-woman acts go, seems rather overpaid. RICE & COHEN. 25 min. F. S., close in one. "The Path of the Primroses>' These people are favorites here and whatever they would put on would be sure to find favor. This new vehicle is very good whereas the first part of it, full stage, was rather slow and only fairly funny, the close in one with the two plants in the audience was irresistible and they closed very strong. HILL & SYLVIANY. 9 min. F. S. A well known act using a bicycle, unicycle and stairs, etc. Make a good presentation and their various feats got good applause. Rather quiet for a closer, but at the same time made good. KINETOGRAPH. "Priscilla's Capture." A very amusing comedy film. "A Message from the Moon." A film that is a little long but has a splendid finish which entirely redeems it. GENERAL REMARKS. This is a good all round vaudeville show, and although the afternoon audience was a little cold, it will go well with our night crowd without any transposition. BOSTON SHOW WEEK MAY 13 - 1912. (R. G. Larsen.) (Monday night.) THREE PENDLETON SISTERS. 9 minutes f.s. Palace. Three rather attractive girls in a very lively dancing act. Opened the show with a snap. Gave things a splendid start. SAMPSEL and REILLY. 11 minutes in one. O.P. Drapery. Man and woman singing and dancing. Several changes of costume. In fact, a very well dressed act that went good in this spot. CONNOLLY and WEBB. 20 minutes f.s. Special cyclorama. Doing pretty much the same act as before with some new trick stuff, new songs, a breakaway set, and went very big. BELLE ADAIR. 13 minutes in one. Olio. A nice-appearing girl with songs, recitations, and a number of changes, who gradually worked her way into the good graces of the audience. Closed strong. CHARLES AHEARN TROUPE. 10 minutes f.s. Special drops. Nothing short of a riot in this spot. BIG CITY FOUR. 18 minutes in one. Street. A couple of new songs, big all through, and a strong finish. ZELDA SEARS and CO. in "The Ward Robe Woman." 20 minutes f.s. Rough interior. Although Miss Sears is suffering from a bad throat, she did very much better to-night than this afternoon. The sketch went fully as well as in New York. Lots of laughs all through it and a good finish. TROVATO. 25 minutes in one. Olio. He might have been on there yet. AEROPLANE LADIES. 10 minutes f.s. Black velvet drop. A very showy act, with three girls and an aeroplane, doing the conventional teeth stunts in the air. Filling this spot in good shape. NO CUTS.
