C. E. BARNS. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. JUNE 17, 1912. KENNEDY & MACK. 7 min F.S. This act is patterned after the numerous others of which Rice & Prevost were the forerunners, using three tables, chairs, barrel and mat. Make a good many funny falls. Is a fair opener. Closed moderately well after the high fall. WILLIAMS & SEGAL 10 min in one. Appear in three changes of costume, all of which are very natty. The girl is particularly stunning. She is a pretty dancer, and although the act started quietly, it worked up very well to a satisfactory finish. All right in an early spot. HOWARD & LAURENCE 20 min F.S. This sketch is better than the others presented by the same people, full of bright lines, clever dancing and eccentric piano-playing by Howard. Just this sort of sketch for a summer bill- light and clever. EXTRA 3 min. Showed the possible President candidates in this centre spot on the bill, on account of the enthusiasm over the present convention in Chicago. Each brought strong applause. RYAN-RICHFIELD Co. in "Mag Haggerty, Osteopath". 22 min F.S. Same sketch as presented here before with few variations. Really one of the funniest character sketches in Vaudeville, cleverly written and cleverly presented with plenty of laughter throughout and a very funny knockout finish. Closed strong. SOPHYE BARNARD 14 min in one. Strong advance applause. Miss Barnard is a native of Philadelphia, and her friends were out in full force. Makes a very fine appearance in two changes of stunning costume, and sang three selections and an encore very charmingly. Each selection was warmly applauded and the close was big. PAUL CONCHAS 22 min F.S. One of the greatest strong-man juggling acts we have ever played. Made a hit here before, but to-day was a genuine sensation. His juggling of cannon balls and military paraphernalia is very spectacular and gets constant applause. He is fortunate in securing such a comedian-assistant as the one he has who is the very best of his kind. The act was a positive hit all the way through for laughter and applause and the finish was immense. LOU ANGER 9 min in one. Advance applause. Mr Anger is a great favorite here and was listened to with rapt attention, getting some scattered laughs, but his line of material did not seem to hit as strong as formally. More than that, he did only nine minutes in the afternoon show when he was scheduled for fifteen. Closed only fairly well. RAYNO'S DOGS 11 min F.S. This act always goes well here, the dogs working fast and amusingly with plenty of noise. Make a very showy finish with the foot-balls and had the audience going strong. A very acceptable closing act. KINETOGRAPH A french film covering travel (Amsterdam) Industry (Steel-making) and comedy. A very good combination. GENERAL REMARKS. This is a good summer show with plenty of comedy, and judging from applause, will capture the crowd if the hot weather gives us half a chance. CUTS- Kennedy & Mack. Business of lifting coat tail and the finger motion following. also the mock prayer. Thos J. Ryan. Mock Prayer, Fingers to nose towards chart and the expression "H--- of a game." Lou Anger. War is a H--- of a joke.
