C. E. BARNS PHILADELPHIA SHOW AUGUST 5, 1912 DENNIS BROS. 7 min F.S. One works clown and the other straight. A very showy act. Fine closing hand. DILL & WARD 10 min in one. Man works straight and the woman soubrette, with three changes of costume. Vocal work does not amount to much, but their dancing is good and allows the act to get by in a small place. DARRELL & CONWAY "BEHIND THE SCENES" 16 min F.S. clo in one, with their own special drop. This act makes a hit mainly on the personality of the two people, both of whom are accomplished lightning-change dressers with a superb wardrobe. Come on bare stage and proceed to make up behind their trunks and other effects, keeping up a running fire of talk meanwhile, a proceed to one song after another, each in a new change of attire. Held this spot in good shape and closed fairly strong. CLARE INGE 18 min in one. A very pretty girl becomingly gowned and receiving a small advance hand. Sang three songs and gave a "little boy" recitation, which were well applauded. Closed well. MME BESSON & CO "Between trains" 15 min F.S. A pretty sketch well written, consistent and well acted by Mme Besson and good support. Held the audience throughout and closed well. WRIGHT & DIETRICH. 18 min in one. These are exceptional singers, making a fine appearance in an act in one which could scarcely be excelled from a vocal standpoint. Every one of the selections won big applause and the close was very strong. "LE BALLET CLASSIQUE" 18 min F.S. A beautiful act with fine lighting effects. B. F. Keith's Theatre Boston Show - Week August 5 - 1912 (R. G. Larsen) (Monday night show.) ASAKI. 9 minutes f.s. Garden. A very fair opening act. A Jap who does well all the conventional juggling stunts on roller skates. Florence Bowes. 13 minutes in one. Olio. A rather attractive girl with a fair lot of songs, which she gets over in very good shape, making a number of changes of costume. CASEY & SMITH. 12 minutes in one. Street. Hebrew comedian and straight man, both playing instruments. A very good comedy act for an early spot. TWELVE SUNSHINE GIRLS. 11 minutes full stage. Garden. A rather imposing singing and dancing act. Livens up things a bit in this spot. HAL MERRITT. 19 minutes in one. Landscape. Talking cartoonist, most of his stuff new, that got over in good shape. LLOYD & WHITEHOUSE. 12 minutes f.s. C.D.F. close in one. olio. This is a comedy singing act with a little of everything finnishing with a grand opera burlesque, that got laughs all through and a good finnish. ERGOTTI LILLIPUTIANS. 11 minutes f.s. Garden. Pretty much the same routine and going as big as ever. SWOR & MACK. 15 minutes in one. Street. One of the best blackface acts we play, although their is not much change in their material since the last visit. JOHN TILLER'S LONDON COMPANY IN "FUN IN A HAREM" 24 minutes f.s. special set. This a big showy act with a lot of people, and several good features, including a three legged dance, and the dancing sailors. As a whole, it is rather slow, and the comedy is not as lively as some of our American acts. But it did very well closing the show. Cuts: Lloyd & Whitehouse- a gag about "pinching leg of piano" and third verse of "I Was Sorry Too" Casey & Smith- gag about "I'd Like to be your father etc"
