REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW WEEK AUG. 26, 1912--W.W. PROSSER. POLZIN BROTHERS: German acrobatic comedians. Some New tricks and some old. All in all a very acceptable number. Well received throughout and moderately strong finish. Garden in 3, 6 min. JOHNNY JOHNSON: Singing comedian with eccentric manner. Freak voice capable of being used effectively. Good comedy offering but at times bordering on tiresome. Got along pretty well scoring fairly strong finish. Street in one, 11 min. CHADWICK TRIO: Wellknown comedy act "For Sale Wiggs Farm". Good laughing hit. Well received throughout. Finish strong. C.D.F. and close in one. 18 minutes. SUMIKO: Japanese prima donna. Very good singer who won favor throughout. Her nationality give novelty value and she also made good strictly on her singing. Finished strong. Special in 4, 10 min. DEVINE & WILLIAMS: Man and woman in songs and talk. Scored all the way through. Different from the usual thing both in manner and delivery. Finished fairly well. Olio in one, 17 minutes. DANCE DREAM: One man, six girls: Not an especially new idea, but deserving of great credit as a thoroughly meritorious offering. The idea seems to be the young fellows dream of different girls of various periods. The dream is unfolded through the medium of vocal explanation on his part. The girls appear in the "vision" style. The set is excellently staged, the man of fine voice, the girls pretty and dressed fetchingly. All in all a corking good number. Held closest attention, emphatic punctuations of applause evident, and the finish was strong. Special cyclorama. 14 minutes. HAYDN, BORDEN & HAYDN: Three young men, singing, dancing and instrumental work on concertina, fiddle &c. A refined, thoroughly acceptable and free from noise offering that made the best kind of impression. "Wine-room" atmosphere noticable for its absence. Strong finish. olio in one, 15 min. HURSLEY TROUPE: Fine acrobatic family that made an excellent closer. A hit throughout. Strong finish. Palace in 4, 6 min. Pathe Weekly: O.K. Note:- Sumiko missed matinee owing to late train.
