GRAND OPERA HOUSE, PITTSBURGH, PA. JOHN P. HARRIS. AUG. 26th, 1912 JOHNNY BELL and ROSAMOND CARON "FUN IN SILENCE." Garden in Two. 10 min. The comedy acrobatic work of Mr. Bell is exceptionally good. The singing of Miss Caron not so good. The act as a whole can be classed as a very good opening act. HARRY BERESFORD & CO. Presenting "IN OLD NEW YORK." Special set in 3. Exterior. 19 min. A low comedy act with five people; a little different from the general run of sketches. Doing fine for us this week. MAUDE LAMBERT and ERNEST R. BALL Olio in one. 21 minutes. Singers and piano playing. This act is a big hit. Miss Lambert is going as big as any woman we have ever played. The work of Mr. Ball is exceptionally good. It is an act that I will be glad to play a repeat. FIVE MOWATTS. Garden, full stage. 8 minutes. Club juggling act. I consider this act the best of their kind. They are doing well for us. JULIUS TANNEN. Monologue. 16 minutes. Olio. This is Mr. Tannen's first appearance at this house for two or three years. He is going very well, taking several bows at every performance. EMMA FRANCIS and her ARABIAN WHIRLWINDS. Full stage, garden, close in one 4 min. Act runs 12 min. The costumes of Miss Francis and her company are far above the average, but the act as a whole I consider very ordinary. Have advised her to cut out her close in one, which is very bad. BUD FISHER. "MUTT & JEFF" CARTOONS. 15 min. in 2, special drop. Mr. Fisher is not a success with us this trip. He gets very little applause and I am sure our patrons are disappointed in him. However, I feel sure he draws us some money on account of the great publicity given to MUTT & JEFF. MEISTERSINGERS. 29 minutes. Special wood, full stage. Presenting their Woodland production "CAMPING OUT." Twelve very good voices and a very nice production. While this act is going very good, I am sure that they would do much better if the selections were more varied. It is not my intention to give the idea that the act is not a success. The above is merely a suggestion. They are closing our show and taking several curtain calls at every performance.
