SHOW REPORT B. F. KEITH'S THEATRE, CINCINNATI, O. Tuesday Matinee Week of November 9th, 1913. J. F. Royal. THE ROSAIRES: 9 min. F. S. "special". Man and woman in a neat and clever tight and slack wire act arranged in a very novel manner. They work fast, and proved a pleasing opening act for this show. JIMMY LUCAS: 11 min. in one - street. Songs, parodies and dances. A clever lad, who went very big. On Sunday and Monday, during the several shifts of the show, he went next to closing, and got over in fine shape. In this spot he started the show off well. DOROTHY DE SCHELLE: 17 min. F. S. C.D.F. Two men and a woman in a comedy dramatic sketch entitled, "Crookology". This is a clever little sketch, with some bright and amusing situations and well played. It is very thin in spots, but nevertheless gets some good laughs. Very fine closing. WINONA WINTER: 14 min. in one, olio. Popular musical comedy star secured. Opened Tuesday afternoon, and was a tremendous hit. Opened with pleasing song, gave impersonation of Swedish girl at telephone, another songs, and closed with her sub-vocal feature - In this spot was a big hit. Miss Winter was given a splendid reception. DORIS WILSON TRIO: 14 min. - 1-1/2 min. opening in one, and 12-1/2 min. F. S. "special". Three girls and a man, in a unique and novel singing, talking and dancing act, with some comedy. Introduce the reflection in mirror stunt, which proved very interesting here. The act was entertaining throughout, and finished strong. BURLEY & BURLEY: 10 min. in one. Two Englishmen in a comedy acrobatic singing and talking act. Their singing and talking is crude, and their comedy old, but their acrobatic work, both grotesque and straight, is splendid and gets the act over in good shape. The comedy with the jointless legs is very funny, and secured big laughs. BRANDON HURST & CO.: 19 min. F.S. Library. Three men in a sketch entitled "The Girl". This is a splendid feature, well acted, and deserving of a spot on any bill. Has tense situations, also some very humorous parts, and the contrast is what makes it such a hit. All characters are well played, especially that by Mr. Hurst, and the act received a splendid closing. OLGA PETROVA: 21 min. in one. Today Miss Petrova put on an improvised act, because her music had not reached here from New York, but will be here on Wednesday. Notwithstanding, she went over very strong, and will certainly fill the position made vacant by Marie Lloyd's absence. A real, "clean", artistic hit. HERZOG'S HORSES: 14 min. F. S. Landscape. This is a wonderful act of its kind, and great to close any bill, but it is a bad act to have follow any single woman who works in one, having quiet material, because the pounding of the horses is bound to be heard and attracts the attention of the audience. Miss Petrova suffered from this. The horses are a picturesque finish to the show. LOCAL MOTION PICTURES: REMARKS: Miss Marie Lloyd, who was to headline here this week, did not appear - claimed she was to open on Monday, instead of Sunday. When she wanted to leave Cleveland, found it impossible because of storm. On Sunday Britt Wood who was passing through was pressed into service, and although he appeared here two weeks ago, was a tremendous hit at both shows. Monday afternoon we filled in with Miss Elaine, who was appearing in "The Ham Tree". This act was stolen. Monday night Miss Petrova arrived five minutes before she was to go on, and she appeared in her street clothes, without even a make-up; notwithstanding, she went big. Miss Lloyd's disappointment will cost us money, but this show, as it now runs, is a very good one, and business should pick up from Wednesday on.
