3 Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of Nov. 17, 1913. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. I am considerably disappointed in this week's show, particularly with our headliner, and as the salary of our leading feature was so great, I tried to save something on the rest of the bill, much to my sorrow. LAMB'S MANIKINS This is a pretty poor act. These people haven't any idea of the natural working of the figures as has been done by some other people we have had here. The act is slow and practically devoid of comedy. I wouldn't want to play it even in our small time house. 15 Min. F.S. DANIELS & CONRAD Two clever boys, violin and piano, who did very well in this spot. 15 Min. in One. VINTON & "BUSTER" "Buster being a very remarkable dog. This act created more talk than anything else on the bill. 15 Min. in Two. LINTON & LAWRENCE In an act new to us this season, although I believe it was produced the latter part of last season. A very good comedy offering, but would be better in a little earlier spot. 17 Min. in One. OLGA NETHERSOLE & CO. This is the prize lemon we have had in several seasons. I don't mean by that that Miss Nethersole can't act or that her playlet isn't good, but from the standpoint of her salary, she doesn't make good at the box office. Our opening on Monday was most ordinary. We didn't sell a box seat at the matinee and very few of them at night; the balcony contained empty seats; the second balcony was two-thirds filled. At the matinee on Tuesday, we had the lightest matinee we have had in a month or more. In spote of the fact, the Providence Opera House, our leading legitimate theatre, is dark the first half of the week, we seemed to get no more business from that end than we ordinarily do. We pulled lots more business with Cressy & Dayne as headliners, than we are with Miss Nethersole. While the act is good, somehow it didn't seem to hold the audience very interestedly although there was some considerable applause at the finish. 30 Min. F.S. FARBER SISTERS Two clever girls, but who are a little too far down on the bill to get value from them. This is caused by the condition of big money for the headliner. 15 Min. in One. LO-VE & WILBUR A very pretty ring act; would be better at the opening than at the closing of the show. 7 Min. F.S. MOTION PICTURES O.K.
