B. F. KEITH'S HIPPODROME Week of Dec. 1, 1913 Cleveland, Ohio THE CHAMBERLINS - - Man and woman. Palace in 4. A good clever exhibition of lasso throwing and whip cracking. Closed good. (Open) HINES & FOX - - 2 young men. Palace in 1. 15 minutes. these boys have an assortment of songs and patter and piano stunts. They might cut out a little of their long winded introductions, but otherwise they finish strong to big applause. (Toledo) HOPKINS AXTELLE & CO - Sketch "Traveling". Man and woman. 15 minutes, street in 1, closing with special drop in 2. They start out poorly in a weak comedy sketch and the the first part of their act is merely amusing, but the audience took kindly to it before the finish and they closed satisfactorily. (Erie) W. UESSEMS THIRD GENERATION OF ACROBATS - Palace in 5 - 30 minutes. Two men and four youngsters. This well known act has constantly improved for a number of years and I doubt if there is another head balancing act in the world that can equal it. The marvelous and seemingly impossible head balancing and perpendicular ladder stunts they perform are sensational. I consider the act well worth the money. It will be the most talked of act in the show this week. The feats they perform have never before been seen in Cleveland. Frequent and sincere applause throughout the act. (Cincinnati) JOHN T. MURRAY - - Palace in 1. 15 minutes. This man is a winner from start to finish. A clever dancing eccentric monologist, who has a lot of new good material and goes over very strong. (Open) FRITZI SCHEFF - - C. D. F. in 4. 30 minutes. this well known musical comedy star sang five songs. She was rewarded with general applause after each selection. Clevelanders seem to be glad to see her again for she drew like a porus plaster. It was an unusual Monday following a holiday week. We have had a little trouble with her personal representatives regarding minor details, but I think perhaps she will last the week out, and if she does we will make some money. If she appears at every performance it will be the first time in the history of Cleveland theatricals that she has accomplished this feat. She has been billed a number of times at the legitimate theatres, but has just as often disappointed her audiences at times during the week. I am glad she is here, but - - - - - - - we have a mighty good show without her. (Philadelphia) COOPER & ROBINSON - - Street in 1. 10 minutes. Colored entertainers. Another new partner this trip. With seven million coons in the United States, it seems strange that this trouble should have to be wished on us year after year. It is always a case of borrowed money, loan sharks, sheriffs, constables and the Lord knows what from early Monday morning until Saturday night. Again this trip it was necessary to raise $15.00 on Monday morning to keep one of them out of jail. The new partner seems to be as good as the old, and if all the new partners would get together, we could have several Cooper & Robinson acts, with a little peace thrown in. As far as ability is concerned they made good in this spot, and if I can keep the authorities from hanging them before Saturday night, we may be able to send them back to their next stand, New York City. GEORGE B. RENO & CO - - "The Misfit Army". 5 men, 1 woman. Special drop in 5. 20 minutes. This act is well known on the circuit and made its usual big hit. Reno still carries the tall slim fellow, the fat fellow and the midget and the act is about the same as in the past. Always makes a hit here. (Columbus)
