R. S. Robbins WASHINGTON SHOW December 15, 1913 LO LOTTE: 14 Min. F. S. Roller Skating Bear. Novelty with some comedy. Goes fairly well. PRINCE LAI MON KIM: 10 min. in one. Chinese tenor, in Oriental costume. Good selections beautifully sung, and has a very pleasing personality. The act made quite a hit. "HIS SECRETARY." A satirical comedy written by Mrs. A. S. Burleson, wife of the Postmaster General, and presented by Mr. Preston Gibson, a society leader, playwright and clubman. The little play hits the well meaning type of a Congressman's wife who, with the idea of economy, attempts to be her husbands Secretary, with a somewhat different result and considerable strain on his patience, because of her inability. It combines bright lines and humorous situations, which interested and amused and intellectual audience through its 18 minutes. The sketch was well acted by four local amateurs, better performers than many professionals. The act is contributing largely to a good paying week. Big applause at the finish. Full stage. Scene, room in an apartment house. MERRILL & OTTO: 16 min. in one. Man and woman, both with personality, style and looks. Comedy, dancing and singing. The act closes with a pretty dance and funny "Tag" line, getting big laugh and hand. The act was enjoyed very much. EDWARD ABELES: 20 min. F.S. Sketch "He Tried To Be Nice", by Grant Stewart. Extraordinary clever, comedy, getting big laughs and applause. Mr. Abeles gets everything in the sketch, but is only fairly well supported by Miss Lander. INTERMISSION. HARRY GILFOIL: 19 min. Opens F.S., closes in one. His characterization "Baron Sands" a study very cleverly carried out. He keeps the audience laughing and gets lots of applause. BELLE STORY: 13 min. in one. Beautiful woman and voice, charming personality. Gets absolutely everything out of her selections, and goes very big. THE FOUR BARDS: 10 min. F.S. Sensational hand balancers and gymnasts. Go very big. PATHE WEEKLY: 12 min. Interesting pictures, but indistinct film, and the second time in three weeks we have been compelled to cut a feature advertising an attraction at some other theatre. GENERAL REMARKS A very good high-class show with splendid advertising features.
