REPORT ON B. F. KEITH'S - BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS. Week of January 5, 1914 (Robert G. Larsen.) SAMAROFF & SONIA. 8 minutes f. s. Special set. Man and woman with three very clever dogs, doing an excellent routine of dancing and acrobatics. Made a splendid opener. BILL BAILEY. 9 minutes in one. Olio Drop. This is the banjo player of Morgan, Bailey & Morgan, now doing a single musical act. Plays on the banjo, guitar and cello. His present routine might be improved upon, but he went over in very good shape in this position. "THE PURPLE LADY" WITH RALPH LYNN & CO. 31 minutes f. s. B. A. Rolfe has brightened this act up with some new scenery and new costumes. The leading lady is not as good as Mercedes Lorenz or Margaret Haney, but the act went over big at both performances to-day. LILI LONG. 14 minutes in one. O. P. Drapery. Miss Long is an English character comedienne whose stature is very well described by her name. Has some very funny costumes, sings three numbers and does quite a bit of dancing. Went over in very good shape in this spot to-night, getting many laughs. ROBERT T. HAINES & CO. "The Man In The Dark." 22 minutes f. s. Dark interior. A splendid dramatic sketch, well cast and played that held the interest every minutes and closed strong. EMPIRE COMEDY FOUR. 21 minutes in one. Street. Not much change in their routine since they last appeared here, But pulled down one of the hits of the show. "MERCEDES" 30 minutes f. s. Music Room. This man is one of the best advertising attractions we have ever played since the palmy days of Harry Houdini. Last Wednesday we had a long distance test between Boston & Providence in which the mayors of both cities took part, which resulted in considerable publicity. We sold out at both performances to-day, which speaks well of the interest that has been aroused in his work. "Mercedes' " work to-day was little short of a sensation. He sent the audiences out talking, and has got everyone guessing. A splendid novelty that should draw us some money. JACK WILSON TRIO. 31 minutes in one. Garden. Wilson is working white face this trip, and going just as big as ever. Was nothing short of a riot to-night. Closed very, very big. THREE SHELVEY BROTHERS. 7 minutes f. s. Special cyclorama. A very good contortionist act, beautifully dressed, which made a strong closer. COMMENT. A great show that gets started early and goes like wildfire from start to finish.
