Report on PROVIDENCE SHOW, Week of Feb. 9, 1914. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. The show this week played very well indeed and I think it is a bill that will draw some business. WILSON & AUBREY Comedy bars and burlesque wrestling. A very funny act. 9 Min. F. S. BARNEY GILMORE Irish songs, stories, etc. Although Mr. Gilmore appears in evening dress, - and he looks mighty well in the suit, - he does a typical Irish act; Irish songs, Irish stories and some stereoptican views of Ireland. The act is rather old-fashioned in its make-up, but it gets over all right and I think he has some drawing power from the Irish element and also from the followers of "the movies." 16 Min. in One. GLIDING O'MEARAS Another one of the many illustrators of modern dances in an elaborated form, all of which seem to be about on a par. Went very well. 10 Min. F. S. MELVILLE & HIGGINS In their new act, which went very well, altho I don't believe they got as many laughs as they did in their former vehicle. 20 Min. in One. OWEN MCGIVNEY Protean artist in a lightning-change sketch, introducing a number of Dickens' characters from "Oliver Twist." Mr. McGivney's make-ups are very fine and his changes are wonderful in their rapidity, but the sketch is tiresome and seems long-drawn out; neither can I say much for his acting; at times his enunciation was so faulty that you couldn't understand a word he said; nevertheless, I believe the audience enjoyed the wonderful changes; that was shown by the strong applause he received at the finish. 24 Min. F. S. RAY COX Miss Cox did about as well as usual with her new act; (all but one number, that of the aeroplane) 30 Min. Open in One, close in Two. WILL OAKLAND & CO. These five men with their very good singing were a decided hit. I think it is safe to say that they got the greatest applause of the day. 20 Min. F. S. Close in One. THE FOUR HARVEYS Very attractive wire performers in an act that evidently gave pleasure to all present. 10 Min. F. S. MOTION PICTURES O. K.
