B. F. KEITH'S THEATRE, CINCINNATI, O. Week of February 8th, 1914. John F. Royal. DUPREE AND DUPREE 11 min. F.S. Special Velvet Cyclorama. Man and woman in a pretty and clever bicycle act, which is put over in a manner quite out of the ordinary. They do some good stunts and make a fine opening act. INDIANAPOLIS. LILLIAN ASHLEY 20 min. in One. Olio. Just fair. Material has'nt changed a great deal from her last visit, and some of her material, especially that part used in the telephone song, is a little coarse. She just managed to hold down this spot. OPEN. KLEIN, ABE & NICHOLSON 14 min. F.S. Pal. 3 min. Close in One. Three men in a comedy musical act. On the whole this act went over very strong. While a bit dull in spots, it got some big laughs and the closing number gave the act a strong finish. Lexington. MARIA LO 11 min. F.S. Special. A series of tableaux representing dresden china and porcelain. A very artistic novelty act that proved very pleasing. INDIANAPOLIS. DONOHUE AND STEWART 23 min. in One. Street. Man and woman in the best act of its kind seen here this season. The opening is very slow and droll like but funny. The eccentric make-up of the man is a laugh, also the novelty costume of the girl. They have a line of sure-fire patter, and once the male member of the act starts dancing, the house is in an uproar. One of the finest eccentric dancers ever seen here. They have an encore that is a big scream. One of the big hits of the bill. They work hard, and it is safe to predict this act will be a winner. INDIANAPOLIS. ANNA HELD 20 min. in Two. Fancy. Miss Held got a very nice reception. She wore beautiful gowns. As an act, Miss Held cannot be rated as having created a furore. The big setting and chorus behind her of the productions is missed. Her own manager claims that Mr. Ziegfeld is preparing to change her act completely by the time it reaches the East. I think it would have been better if this change was made before it reached here. Miss Held opened with a song and then, while she is making her changes shows what purports to be a kinemacolor film of intimate views of herself. This film is a fizzle, and it slows up the act. Her first two songs are about the same tempor and get very little applause. Her third number, which is a medley with new words and music from her old song successes, went fairly strong. For an encore she uses song called "The Bells", in which she tries to become a tragedian, and fails. Her representative knows this song is not a good one, but she will not change it. Her closing was just fair. I doubt if Miss Held will do the business expected of her here. CLEVELAND. JULIUS TANNEN 20 min. in One. The big hit of the show. His monologue was bright and crispy, and he was a laughing success all the way. Closed big. INDIANAPOLIS. MAREENA AND DELTON BROS. 9 min. F.S. C.D.F. This is the third hand balancing act we have had here in three weeks. The comedy in the act made it a hit. The three boys held the audience in in good shape. Strong finish. OPEN. LOCAL MOTION PICTURES Very interesting. CUTS Lillian Ashley "Hell" "Not Spill a Nickel's Worth", "The Denver Cough" and reference to Anna Held. Donohue and Stewart asked to modify "The Short Encore".
