151 150 SCENIC TEMPLE Vaudeville and Motion Pictures EXEC. OFFICE: UNION THEATRE UNION STREET PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND MAIN STREET PHONE PAWTUCKET 356 Pawtucket, R. I., Report on acts playing The Scenic Temple, Week of February 22, 1914. 1 The Two Clips. Colored Man and woman. Works 13 minutes in one. Singing, talking and dancing. Went good. 2. Swain's Cockatoos. Man, woman, and numerous birds. 14 minutes in the full stage. Some of the tricks are done on miniature horizontal bars. The closing, and best paet is the adding, subtracting, and counting of one of the cockatoos. One of the birds also plays "Home Sweet Home" on musical chimes. Went good. 3. Dugan and Raymond. man and woman. 13 minutes in olio, using a bed-hammock in the center of the stage. Singing, talking, and good "nut" comedy. went good. 4. Willard and Bond. Two men, blackface. Work 16 minutes in office setting in the full stage. A comedy sketch, "Detectivism" There are plenty of laughs, but the act only goes fair at the finish. Report on acts playing The Scenic Temple, Feb. 26, 27, and 28. Harry Rouclare and Co. (Man and two women, boy assistant) Uses special set and apparatus, in full stage. A magician, doing some very good tricks. Went fair, matinee, and better at night. Longenette (one woman) Special set in full stage. A character change artiste. Her impersonations were those of a Chinese girl, a butler, a wealthy lady, a tough Bowery girl, and Italian girl, and the dual role of lawyer and Madame X, in the court-room scene in that play. Went good, matinee, and also at night. Cain and Newcomb. (man and woman) Man uses blackface, as porter, woman is straight as traveler, and later as singer. Talking, and singing. use special scenery in two. Went good, matinee, and also at night. Tate's Motoring. (Four men, and a boy) Set in full stage. A comedy, depicting the troubles encountered by motorists. Plenty of laughs. but went poor at finish, at matinee. Went good, at night.
