B. F. KEITH'S HIPPODROME Cleveland, Ohio Week of March 9, 1914 LOCKETT & WALDRON - - Palace in 1. 9 minutes. Two young men in a clever dancing act. Their eccentric dancing is excellent. (Toledo) HANLON & CLIFTON - - C. D. F. in 4, 11 minutes. Two men. Feats of strength and some excellent balancing. It is a good act and finished strong. (Fort Wayne) JOE & LEW COOPER - - Palace in 1. 12 minutes. Two men. Regulation Rathskeller act. They have some new songs and got along very nicely in this spot. (Syracuse) MARIA LO & CO - - Posing act. Special in 4. 17 minutes. Reproductions of famous artists work on dresden china and porcelain. Made quite a hit. (Pittsburg) MERRILL & OTTO - - Street in 1. 16 minutes. Songs, patter and dancing. Had no trouble in making good and closed strong. (Buffalo) CRESSY & DAYNE - - Special Interior in 3. 22 minutes. Sketch entitled "The Man Who Remembered". This is the first time Cressy has presented this sketch in Cleveland, and it seems to be the general opinion here that it is the best act he has ever offered us. That is saying a great deal for Cressy has produced some mighty fine stuff in the past fifteen years. (Syracuse) BERT WILLIAMS - - Special plush drop in 2. 26 minutes. A dark cloud hovered over Cleveland yesterday afternoon and last night. It hesitated and then entered the Hippodrome lobby. The cause was Bert Williams. The United States census shows that there are about three million dark skinned humans in this country, and after a close count yesterday I believe that four of them were absent. Naturally most of them wanted to sit downstairs or in the boxes. I guess this is the rule everywhere. There's no getting away from the fact that Williams is a big drawing card here in Cleveland. while he will not hit the Hoffman record or the Tanguay business, and he may not reach Eddie Foy's mark, he will be running right along at the head of the line and it will be one of the biggest weeks from the standpoint of gross receipts (not profits) that we have had this season. Williams delivers all new stuff and it is unnecessary to say that he made a pronounced hit. (Open) FIVE MOWATTS - - Garden in 4. 10 minutes. This well known club juggling act made its usual big hit and closed the show in good shape. (Cincinnati) PATHE'S WEEKLY
