H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW. MARCH 16, 1914. THE DAINTY ENGLISH TRIO. 9 min. A very dainty act that makes a creditable opener. The girls are handsome and well costumed and whereas they are a little shy on the singing, their dancing is very good indeed. Act got a good closing hand. LIGHTNER & JORDAN. 14 min. Two pretty and vivacious young ladies who are somewhat handicapped by a choice of songs which are not written for women's voices. However, they held this early spot with credit. Use a piano cleverly and closed well. THE VERIGRAPH. 9 min. This is quite a novelty that interested and amused the audience fairly well. The pictures are fairly well selected. Some of them received a small hand and at the close there was considerable applause. This act would be improved if there were a better lecturer with it, this man lacking in personality and being very indistinct in his description of the pictures. Have advised him to warm up tonight and see if he cannot do better. HUNTING & FRANCIS. 17 min. Same act as presented here before with very little new material. However, it went well, receiving laughter and applause, closing strong. LIANE CARRERA. 20 min. A beautiful scene set in black and white satin with silver spangles. Miss Carrera has not a remarkable voice but she is certainly an attractive young girl, making several changes of handsome gowns and has the Parisian manner and method of her mother. Her dancing is artistic and got a big hand. Watson and the six stunning girls combine to make this feature all that the advance billing has promised us and the audience seemed thoroughly well pleased, giving the act a big hand at the finish. LADDIE CLIFF. 17 min. Big advance hand. Laddie proved himself a great favorite here as usual, every one of his former and his new selections getting an immense hand. He has certainly improved immensely in his work, particularly in his eccentric dancing. Was compelled to give an encore and make a little speech after the big closing hand. MINNIE DUPREE & CO. "The Man in Front." 24 min. A play along the lines of the faithless wife, the unsuspecting husband and the coward of a paramour but original in treatment. The melodramatic parts were listened to with rapt attention and the surprise finish got a strong hand. Lived up to headline honors. LAMBERT & BALL. 19 min. Advance applause. Mr. Ball at the piano made a decided hit with his new songs and some of the older favorites given with lots of snap and ginger and Miss Lambert won out very strongly with her vocal work. Altogether won out in this hard spot in very acceptable shape. ISHIKAWA JAPS. 10 min. A splendid closer. These boys use a high pedestal with double stairs and all their work is expert and finished. Every feat got a fine hand and they closed strong. KINETOGRAPH. Right up to the standard of the Pathe features. GENERAL REMARKS. We have styled this show "Vaudeville de Luxe" but it rather should have been called a "Beauty Show." While it lacks a bit in comedy, at the same time the good singing, beautiful girls and magnificent gowns will give us a big week.
