REPORT ON COLUMBUS SHOW WEEK MARCH 30..W.W. PROSSER. TUSCANOS BROTHERS: Battle ax jugglers. Very good number, demonstrating unusual dexterity in the manipulation of these instruments of war. Act held attention throughout and finished strong. Special in 5, 8 minutes. (Elmira, N.Y.) ELIDA MORRIS: Singing comedienne. Clever little woman who put over several numbers, successfully. did well throughout, scoring a moderately strong finish. Olio in 1, 19 minutes. (Philadelphia) BERTEE BEAUMONT & JACK ARNOLD: Young man and woman in singing and talking skit "The Doctorine". Very clever couple who thoroughly made good. The man is capable and very good looking. The woman has the same attributes, plus ginger. Went well throughout and finished strong. Interior in 3, Close in 1, 18 minutes. (New York City) FREDERICK V. BOWERS & CO: Songs, Dances &c. This act is the acme of speed and got over in good shape. Several changes of scenery, clever songs and dances, and dull moments are missing. Strong finish. Specials in 6 and 8, Close in 1. 15 minutes. (Syracuse) CASTLE PICTURES: Very entertaining film, showing the work of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Castle. Five numbers, with appropriate introduction and finale. Seemed to hold undivided attention. Sheet in 1, 14 minutes. OWEN McGIVENEY: A very excellent artist who presents a Dickens episode, "Bill Sikes". Several characters are enacted. His changes from one to the other are surprisingly quick. The act thoroughly establishes the Dickens atmosphere. The work of Mr. McGiveney is flawless. Undivided attention and a very strong finish. Special in 4, 24 minutes. (Open) MR. AND MRS. JIMMIE BARRY: Presenting "The Rube". The same clever couple as of yore. Had no trouble in making a pronounced success. Abundant laughter and a good, strong finish. Special in 2, close in 1, 24 minutes. (Cleveland) SEVEN BRACKS: Fine looking troupe of men. Risley experts. This is a fine exhibition, and the best of its kind we have had for some time. Well worth the careful attention it received. Plenty of new stuff. Abundant style and strong finish. Palace in 5, 7 min. (New York City) MOTION PICTURE: O.K. NOTE:- The position of Frederick Bowers and the Castle Pictures was reversed owing to the inability of Bowers to afford sufficient time to set McGiveney.
