H. T. JORDAN MAY 11, 1914 PHILADELPHIA SHOW. DeVOIE TRIO. 12 min. F.S. three athletic young chaps presenting the usual routine of a ring act, featuring the DeVoie trick. The white dressing against the black cyclorama drop is very effective and act made an excellent opener, receiving a good hand at the finish. MONROE & PUSEY. 13 min. in one. Regulation blackface talking act, opening and closing with song. The patter introduced is rather weak, only scoring a few laughs. The closing song was rather a novelty and finished the act to a good hand. The way the act played today, it can only be classed as fair. HYAMS & McINTYRE. 20 min. open in one, close F. S. These two clever people make good more with their personality than with the vehicle furnished by Winslow. Received advance applause. Talk in the main was witty and brought laughs, but the feature of the act, as always, was the demure personality and all-round good work of Miss McIntyre. Received laughter and applause all through and big closing hand with one of the up-to-date waltzes now in vogue. MORRIS & ALLEN. 13 min. in one. these boys presented their well known act for the first time in this house. While they did not create any furore, they held the spot nicely and gathered strength as they went along. LOUIS MANN & CO. 48 min. F.S. "Elevating a Husband." Without question the best dramatic offering in the house this season. Mr. Mann is to be congratulated on having surrounded himself with a most competent company. The first half of the play is practically all broad comedy and gradually goes into the strong dramatic lightened by heart interest. Was liked every minute this afternoon and at the conclusion, the audience gave Mann a real ovation, finally compelling him to make a curtain speech which he did in a very witty and artistic manner. ETHEL GREEN. 17 min. This well known artiste presenting a program, part new and part old, failed to score her customary hit. This was possibly due to following such a tremendous hit as Mann, also possibly due to the fact that the afternoon was very warm. Held the spot, however, and anticipate better things during the week. CONLIN, STEELE & CARR. 17 min. in one. Well known Philadelphia trio gave their customary routine, presenting a new bit here and there and succeeded in holding next to closing spot nicely. ERGOTTI & LILIPUTIANS. 8 min. First time in the closing spot in this house and while they did not go as strong as when in the center of the bill on a previous visit, their work was appreciated by those who stayed in and they made a good close. "H.B.B." WEEKLY. The subjects this week are rather lacking in interest and am afraid I will have to make a change to something else unless they are more fortunate in the future in the selection of subjects. GEN. REMARKS. Show on the whole can be classed as good. Judging from the way it went over on the first hot afternoon of the summer, should improve as the weather grows cooler.
