BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R.I. REPORT OF SHOW, MONDAY, NOV. 15, 1915. BEEMAN & ANDERSON: ROLLER SKATERS, 6 MIN. FULL STAGE. Some very difficult and intricate figures executed with consumate skill and grace make a pleasing offering which was well received. DIXIE FOUR: COLORED VOCAL QUARTETTE, 14 MIN. (1). When one remember the truly great vocal quartettes heard here from time to time, this aggregation suffers greatly by comparison, they having only one or two numbers deserving of even passing mention. LORADOE'S "MODELS IN MARBLE." LIVING STATUARY, 12 MIN. FULL STAGE, SPEC. SET. A beautiful and imposing spectacle, these reproductions of priceless art which the chisels of the masters have bequeathed to posterity, and which have given them Fame while they sleep. And yet the offering received little in the way of applause. A trifle too elevated perhaps, for many. After running two or three looms all day, or taking care of three or four spinning frames, many of them could not be expected to manifest any great degree of interest in the classic lore of ancient art. Some of them are still wondering as to who Proserpine and Calates might have been. Many of us are undoubtedly somewhat 'rusty' in our Mythology, the beautiful legendary lore of ancient Greece, the figure of which have been so immortally perpetuated by the masters of the old, old school. But it is all a bit too 'high' for Woonsocket. [W. E. Parmenter?] BIJOU THEATRE, WOONSOCKET, R.I. REPORT OF SHOW, THURSDAY, NOV. 18, 1915. KNICE AND DUNN: SONGS, LADY AND MAN, 14 MIN. (1). Good act, their songs being new and of a tuneful variety, well rendered. The whistling specialty by the lay is cleverly done, and helps considerably toward the success of the offering. LULU COATES AND CO: SONGS, DANCE AND COMEDY, LADY AND THREE YOUTHS, 12 MIN. (1) Clever dancing, a touch of comedy, and fairly good vocal offerings all combine to make a pleasing turn, quite well received. KENNETH CASEY: VARIETY OFFERING 20 MIN. (2). For one of his years a clever entertainer, possessing a fund of versatility that is rarely equalled by one so young. He met with success at all performances. [W. E. Parmenter?]
