REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF JANUARY 3, 1916. CHARLES LOVENBERG, Manager. The show as a whole is quite good. The only serious difficulty being the falling down of the headline act, Clifton Webb & Co. Moving them into a earlier position may help some. ASAKI Japanese skater and juggler. A good opening act, but he gets too much money. I suppose he needs it now that he carries a Japanese lady with him to hand him a couple of props. 10 Minutes Full Stage. JEAN TYSON & CO. Man and woman in a clever singing and dancing act with the lady impersonating a boy and girl alternately, keeping the audience guessing, thereby lending some novelty to the turn. 15 Minutes In One. CLIFTON WEBB & CO. assisted by the BALALAIKA ORCHESTRA. (I should say by the remnant of the Balalaika Orchestra.) A very ordinary turn without anything to recommend it except Webb's "gall." 15 Minutes Full Stage. FELIX ADLER. I was very much disappointed with Mr. Adler's turn inasmuch as his agent told me that he had considerable new material. As a matter of fact, there is not a new word in his act from when I played him before, a matter of possibly two years.ago. It seems to me he did not far as well as a turn of his character should. Earlier, he will no doubt do better. 15 Minutes In One. Merrill & Otis in "Wards of U.S.A" A "crackerjack" sketch which went over pretty well in spite of the fact that Merrill & Otto don't, by any means, get out of it all there is in it. 18 Minutes Full Stage. Marie Fitzgibbons. Story Teller. Told all new stories. Went very well indeed. She was a hit. 14 Minutes In One. Homer Miles & Co. in "An Innocent Bystander." A very good sketch which went very well, helped, no doubt, by the fact that Mr. Miles and Miss Ray were last season members of our stock company. 22 Minutes Full Stage. Van & Schenck. Well known act that was the decided hit of the show. 20 Minutes In One. The Five Statues. A very good act of posing and strong arm feats, but just why they bill themselves as five Statues and only four work, other than the lady handling a couple of props, I can't understand. I have changed all their billing to read, "The Four Statues", and would suggest that other managers do the same, as the billing of Five Statues make them appear ridiculous. 9 Minutes Full Stage. Motion Pictures. O/ K.
