H.T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW FEB. 21, 1916 SELIG TRIBUNE. 12 min. Very ordinary pictures. MEREDITH & SNOOZER. 18 min. A very pretty and novel animal act, a man showing a highly educated bulldog and a cat. Good looking act and nicely handled. Did nicely as an opener. FRITZ & LUCIE BRUCH. 10 min. A young man and girl in a high class instrumental musical offering. Cello and violin are used for single and duet numbers. Both are excellent musicians and were highly enjoyed. THE MINIATURE REVIEW. 22 min. The usual routine by manikin figures, well done, is followed by a real novelty bit representing a ball game which builds up a very good comedy finish. Closed to a strong hand. J.C. NUGENT & CO. 21 min. "The Meal Hound." A brand new sketch written around a new theme with the author as its principal character. Has a lot of good comedy talk put over with excellent results and it was very well received. STAN STANLEY. 22 min. Comedian works from the audience, assisted by a girl and a straight man on the stage. They have changed the comedy talk at the opening and do a burlesque shooting bit after the trampoline feats. Registered a big laughing hit. RUTH ROTH. 18 min. Put over a good sized applause hit, using five character songs, three of them new here. Her songs give her a chance to do a lot of "mugging" which got laughs. She was rewarded with a big hand RUTH ST. DENIS. 33 min. Assisted by Ted Shawn, two other dancers and a ballet of six girls. All the dances are of the classical kind, beautifully staged and dressed and splendidly executed. Each number held strict attention from a crowded house, there was liberal applause for each dance and at the finish Miss St. Denis was forced to answer several curtain calls. BIG CITY FOUR. 17 min. With the hardest spot on the bill, following Miss St. Denis, these boys did finely with their straight songs. While their numbers are a bit worn from constant use, all are well sung with excellent harmony effect. The act was warmly applauded. THREE ANKERS. 7 min. Two men and a woman in a very pretty gymnastic act. Routine of showy and well handled tricks that look original. Did very nicely in a hard spot closing this show. GENERAL REMARKS. Very satisfactory bill leading up to the big headliner which came fully up to expectations. A capacity house showed approval of the entire bill. SPECIAL NOTE. The Miniature Review has to set through the whole week as it is impossible to move it. In a case like this week, with Ruth St. Denis working back in 4 1/2, much value of the Review act is lost by the act being set so far back. Denis act also requires a piano in the pit for the leader of the act, also an extra light man, none of which information did we have until the acts got in this morning.
