H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW. MARCH 20, 1916. SELIG TRIBUNE. 15 min. Good average of pictures. ADONIS. 8 min. Act unchanged. A very well trained dog and a very nice looking act for an opener. HARRY LESTER MASON. 13 min. Has a long routine of talk unbroken by song or music of any kind and finishes with a long recitation. Managed to get a few laughs in this early spot and finished very midly. SARAH PADDEN & CO. 23 min. "The Little Shepherd of Bargain Row." This one-act playlet is the condensation of the three-act play by the same title and taken from the novel of the same name. It is rather talky in construction and lacks action, depending entirely upon the principal character of a girl stenographer and the epigrams and slang phrases she uses in bringing happiness out of a business romance. It held fairly good attention here and was given a liberal hand of applause at the finish. RAE ELEANOR BALL. 19 min. For those who enjoy good instrumental music, this exceptionally clever violiniste is sure to be appreciated anywhere. She varies her program of music and after winning applause with each number, closed to a good hand. CHARLOTTE PARRY & CO. "Into the Light." 19 min. This young girl has just returned from a long stay in Europe and is repeating the same protean playlet that she used the last time she appeared in this country. It tells a story of murder and Miss Parry assumes five different characters appearing as witnesses in the trial and the climax discloses that it is all a dream. The final character gives Miss Parry an excellent chance to display her dramatic ability and the sketch was well received. ADELE ROWLAND. 16 min. This young woman from musical comedy making her first appearance here was a very big hit. She sang five songs all of them new and every one of them scoring a hit and at the finish the audience was asking for more and she was compelled to make a little speech of thanks. KARL JOHN. 15 min. The Metropolitan Tenor. His repertoire consists of three arias from operas and a ballad. He was in splendid voice, sang with a great deal of expression and scored solidly with each number. HUNTING & FRANCES. 22 min. Offering a new comedy skit called "Love Blossoms" framed up along the same lines as their old one but with new material and songs. Drew a goodly amount of laughs and finished to a very good hand. A sure-fire comedy hit. JOE DEKOS CO. 7 min. Four men and a woman in a very good routine of hand balancing and acrobatics. Tricks all well handled and the act made a very satisfactory closing number. GENERAL REMARKS. This is an extremely difficult show to lay out for many reasons. Harry Lester Mason was an absolute frost, due principally to the fact that his material, after that of Sam Bernard two weeks ago, sounds foolish. He has been requested to shorten his act five minutes. With the following change, the show may play better:- A Orchestra B Pictures C Adonis D Rae Eleanor Ball E Sarah Padden & Co. F Harry Lester Mason G Karl Jorn H Adele Rowland I Charlotte Parry J Hunting & Frances K Joe Dekos Co. L EXIT MARCH
