H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW MAY 22, 1916. SELIG TRIBUNE. 14 min. Fair pictures. LE HOEN & DUPREECE. 14 min. Man and woman in a sharpshooting act introduced in a novel way and a very pretty stage setting. Both sing prior to their routine of trick shooting. It fared well in the opening spot. FRANK MULLANE. 17 min. Young fellow working in evening clothes and using a routine of ballads and stories. Some of his stories are pretty old, but he gets them over and his singing scored a hit. He finished to a good hand. KELLY & WILDER. 16 min. This man and woman who were regular visitors a few years ago have increased their act to four persons, using two women who play the piano and violin. The principals sing a couple of ballads and finish with a medley of old time songs. It is a good looking and classy musical act and was very well received. RYAN & LEE. 19 min. They are doing the same act that they did all last season, but they kept the laughs going steadily while they were on the stage with their "nut" stuff and finished to a big hand of applause. JASPER. 20 min. This is the dog that was recently starred in Cohan & Harris' production of "Young America." His routine consists of performing things asked by the audience as well as his master and his tricks differ entirely from the ordinary shown by performing dogs. He held the strictest kind of attention and registered a distinct hit. An excellent novelty for any bill. MISSES CAMPBELL. 14 min. In their drawing-room specialty, called, "At Home." This is a high-class musical act by two girls who have a line of songs different from the usual run and they sing them in an original and distinctly entertaining way. They were a very big hit, being called back to make a little speech of thanks. GEORGE NASH & CO. "The Unexpected." 26 min. A real dramatic gem for vaudeville. It is built around the theme of a crook play and carried through right up to the very finish by the three principals concerned. The climax is that the sketch turns out to be a rehearsal. It is a splendidly written vehicle with lots of bright lines in it and full of "business" and it scored an emphatic hit. VAN & SCHENCK. 14 min. These boys were the same big hit as always with their popular songs. They sang five numbers, each one of them scoring and they finished to a big applause hit. VANDA HOFF in "Nizam's Court Dancer." 17 min. A big dancing spectacle presented by B. St. Denis, a brother of Ruth St. Denis. Vanda Hoff was formerly one of the principal dancers with Ruth St. Denis in the act she presented in vaudeville. The present offering includes six other dancers and there is a pantomime story staged from the tales of Mohammedan Court. It is a spectacular and a highly colored offering and shows something new along this line of dance productions. GENERAL REMARKS. The bill contains plenty of music and comedy with a very good dramatic sketch in the center and a big showy production at the finish. It played well and pleased.
