BOSTON SHOW REPORT - R. G. Larsen - WEEK of AUGUST 28th '16. BOOTH and LEANDER 10 minutes f.s. Garden Set. Trick cyclist and a "nut" comedian made up as a sailor, doing a good comedy opening act. Got many laughs. Some of the bicycle tricks are exceptionally clever. FRISCOE 15 minutes in one. Olio Drop. This man plays the xylophone, switching abruptly from opera to ragtime and back again. Has a good repertoire. A hit. WALSH-LYNCH CO in "ALONG THE ERIE" 25 minutes f.s. Special Set. Comedy sketch after the same lines as "Huckin's Run," with some good rural characters and several songs. Went over first-rate. HARRY B. LESTER 20 minutes in one. Olio Drop. About the same act as on previous visits, with impersonations of Hitchcock, Bert Williams, Sam Bernard, and other stars. Closes with an impression of "Nobody" from "Everywoman." Going well. ISABELLE D'ARMAND and BOBBY O'NEIL in "A Demi-Tasse Revue." 18 minutes in two. (Close in one, 4 minutes, by request to make a set.) Special Scene. The best act Miss D'Armand has given us. Plenty of life, with songs, dances, and considerable comedy, in a beautiful setting. A hit. WALTER LEROY, EMILY LYTTON and CO in "Neighbors" 13 minutes f.s. Landscape. Second time here of this comedy sketch, and going very well. GUS VAN and JOE SCHENCK 17 minutes in one. Olio Drop. These boys have some new Irish, Yiddish, negro and Italian character songs. Put over one of the hits of the show. AVELING and LLOYD 21 minutes in one. Street. Two Southern gentlemen in a patter written by Aaron Hoffman. One of the best comedy acts we have played in some time. The laughing hit of the show. MILDRED MACOMBER and CO in "Holiday's Dream" 21 minutes f.s. Special Set. Went over as strong as ever to the biggest Monday of the Summer. CUTS: LeRoy and Lytton - "What the Hell" Isabelle D'Armand - effiminate business by stage hands and partner.
