236 - REPORT on BOSTON SHOW - WEEK of OCTOBER 16th * 1916. (R. G. Larsen) The FIVE O' CLUBS - 9 minutes f.s. Special drapery. A crackerjack club juggling act with four men and one woman, working in pierrot costumes before a black 'eye.' Very fast act. Strong enough to close a show. KING and HARVEY - 16 minutes in one. Olio Drop. This is the falsetto singer of Stepp, Goodrich and King, with a new partner, doing a piano and singing act. Have some numbers new to Boston, and went over first-rate in this spot. HUGH McCORMACK and GRACE WALLACE 18 minutes in three. Special drop. Ventriloquial act. Went fairly well. HARRY LESTER MAHON 15 minutes in one. Olio Drop. Doing nis new act, "The Waiter." Mr. Mason has some good material, and he put over a laughing hit. CHARLIE AHEARN'S CYCLING COMEDIANS 11 minutes f.s. Two special sets. About the same act as before, with one or two new stunts. Going as well as ever. CLAUDIUS and SCARLET - "The Call of the Sixties" 17 minutes in one. O. F. Drapery and picture sheet. These people have brightened up their act with new costumes, and a couple of different old-time songs. Put over their usual hit. LUYNN OVERMAN and CO in "MARY'S ANKLE" with PEGGY HOPPING 27 minutes f.s. Special Set. This is a funny comedy, well played. It made the audience laugh heartily. "THE ACT BEAUTIFUL" with POSING HORSE and DOGS - 12 minutes f.s. Special cyclorama and draperies. A beautiful closing act that held the house, each picture receiving a round of applause, and a strong hand at the finish. - CUTS - Harry Lester Mason - "Ukalalee" gag. Lunn Overman - "God Bless Her" and "Godo God" Charlie Ahearn - business of lifting ballet skirt on bicycle rider; thumbing of nose by dwarf; kicking people behind; shooting cannon ball into audience. King and Harvey - entire "Gizzard" song. McCormack and Wallace - "Did Santy fill that stocking, he did a good job" gag; line about Gerty Hoffmann not being able to dance because she lost the envelope containing her costume; "Married seven years and got nothing to show for it but two dummies and a second-hand Buick."
