H. T. JORDAN PHILADELPHIA SHOW NOV. 6, 1916 SELIG TRIBUNE. Very ordinary. BOOTH & LEANDER. 9 min. Two men, one in comedy makeup, in a comedy cycling act. They do a routine of familiar tricks and their comedy is also along familiar lines. Did nicely as an opener. BURLEY & BURLEY. 12 min. These two men started very lightly with their comedy talk which dragged, but picked up a bit when they got into their eccentric acrobatic stunts which are very good. They finished to a fair hand. MARIA LO. 9 min. In a series of very pretty posings, this act proved very interesting. The pictures are new and very attractive in costume and design, giving them a new touch for posing acts. There was a liberal hand at the finish. ARTHUR DEAGON. 21 min. This well known musical comedy comedian uses character songs and talk for his monologue. His songs got over in good shape through clever handling, an operatic medley with comedy lines being a big applause winner. For an enchore, he did a burlesque speech with a bit of acrobatics and went off to good applause. MALETA BONCONI. 19 min. Undoubtedly one of the finest musical offerings vaudeville has ever presented and a distinct applause hit with an audience that listened to each of her violin selections with close attention. All of her numbers are of the classical order and splendidly played. She has a very high class offering that will be enjoyed on any bill. HERMINE SHONE & CO. 31 min. "MARY ANN." This is a very classy and pretty playlet that has been given splendid mounting. The story depicts seven episodes in a girl's life. It is entirely different from anything we have ever had and takes its place among the modern allegories so popular today on the stage. An excellent company present it and it won applause which earned them several bows at the finish. GRACE LA RUE. 24 min. Her return to vaudeville after a season on the concert stage, was marked by a somewhat different program of songs than she formerly gave. some of her numbers reach to the real classical and were well done, but it was the more popular kind with which she has always been identified that brought her the biggest reward. At that, she was a big applause winner and finished to a big hand after her enchore. AVON COMEDY FOUR. 14 min. These boys were the same big applause and laughing hit they have always been here. With a new opening in full stage and several minutes of comedy and singing in "one" they kept the audience highly amused from start to finish. DANUBE QUARTETTE. 8 min. A very high class casting act, with a routine of showy tricks nicely handled. The act is attractively dressed and staged and in the closing position were an applause hit. GENERAL REMARKS. After starting slowly, the show picked up speed with each act and with a big applause hit in fifth position finished out a very entertaining bill. The late arrival of some of the baggage helped to drag the show.
