LETTERS There've been other fmz termed Digests but none of 'em 'v been the genuine article, i.e., condensations of fanation's main news & views. I thot U "had something" when I heard of your digest idea & I'm doubly sure so after seeing your initial ish! There is just one recommendation I shoud like to make. I realize U want to be representative but--I'd advise against the prohibition more than once per ish of any fan or fm. The purpose of FMZ Digest is to preserve the Best of the Month, yes? Then what matter if some fan should write several of the top items or one mag present 'em. Let merit rule! Forry FMZ is swell! Congratulations! I guess the idea has been wandering around fandom for some time now, but has never been put into use. Tom Wright I like your mag very much, send it for a year to me, will you, please? You'll find a snappy-looking fiftycent piece in a corner of the envelope. A. W. Bernal FMZ DIGEST is damned good. 'dja notice that every single STARLIGHT PUBLICATION issued in Jan - Feb had items in your mag? Joe Fortier Last Friday I was in Milwaukee and, among other things, I called on Donn Brazier. At his house I saw the first issue of FMZ Digest. It looks great to me... By all means start my subscription Vol. I No. 1. Perhaps you haven't any more issues of No. 1 left, but don't let that stop you! Beg, borrow, or steal a copy for me. Paul H. Klingbiel Thanks for FMZ Digest which I picked up at the office today. It's a great idea and a great mag. I hope you can keep it up for a magazine of this sort has been a crying necessity for a long time... Don A. Wollheim FMZ is a splendid idea, well-edited --except that I didn't care for the professor's item at all--and the technical work is superb. Joseph Gilbert FMZ DIGEST received here. It's a swell mag. Your choice of reprint material couldn't have been better. The green paper, and excellent mimeoing makes the mag very attractive. I'll be awaiting the next issue. Phil Bronson Put me down for a subscription to your new FMZ Digest... your best publishing project to date, bar none... Bob Tucker ...Re FMZ DIGEST, the project seems commendable, depending on quality of the selections, of course... Louis Russell Chauvenet FMZ Digest arrived today and I was greatly satisfied with my copy. The double - column format is exceptionally attractive and quite novel in fanzines ...oops pardon, I mean FMZ. It is something that has been needed in fandom for a long time and I am glad to see that it is being handled by one so competent. I would like to see in issue number two: "Better spelling and less typing mistakes. Especially some more art. You have the finest literary work of the month... why not the best full page pic or cover? Bob Jones THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT, EVERYONE, AND FOR THE SUGGESTIONS. SEE YOU NEXT MONTH. FMZ DIGEST is publisht at 1426 W 38 St, Los Angeles, Cal. Editor, Arthur Louis Joquel, II. Price 5[[cent symbol]], 6 for 25[[cent symbol]]. No ads. April, 1941. Vol. I, No. 2.
