CYCLOPS PAGE 7 under the pages of Starlight. The two magazines will be combined with a few extra pages for club news to give a total of fifty pages for fifteen cents. The first issue has a silk-screen cover, and comes closer to having staff writers than any other of the Fmz." "Dawn, La Moderne Annual, will be briefly reviewed since it was announced last year and this author knows something about same. Tom Wright is editing the material on this annual which has over 70 pages. A neat format is employed by use of mimeograph, lithograph and printing. The price is twenty-five cents for this vari-colored magazine. Pro length short stories and feature articles are used with good illustrations. There is an auto- and photo- graphed biography of each important Stfan. It appears every summer." "Voice of the Imagi-Nation gets better and better as it grows older and older. Forrest J. Ackerman and Morojo co-edit this affair of ever a dozen mimeographed pages with lithoed covers which sells for a dime. This Bi-monthly magazine ranks highly due to the fact that every fan likes to read his neighbor's mail -- and that is just what this is: a magazine of all letters. Neatness is one of the big by-words and it is always on schedule. Illustrations are used occasionally, but are always something special." "Futuria Fantasia is edited, published and written by Ray Bradbury. Now and then another author creeps in, but Bradbury is fairly good at that. A little bit different outlook and a regular publication schedule might put this ten cent magazine on its foot for the twenty mimeod pages offer great possibilities." "Shangri-La is just about the bestone could wish for when it comes to information about Stfandom in general. This is one of the neatest magazines ever published and employs good artistic talent. I can only wish that there were more articles for the ads almost crowd everything else out. Walt Daugherty sends this your way for a dime every six months. There are about thirty pages in this magazine which is truly representative of LA at its best." "Rocket hails from the same source for a nickle more. It is much larger and better. A scientific theme is developed each annual issue. This proves that Daugherty is both artist and author, as well as L.O.P. Illustrations used are very hard to reproduce, but the versitile editors seems to overcome that factor. Neat is putting it mildly, and I believe that this is one fo the few magazines to be a financial success." "The Damn Thing is a bit on the risque side and punches one with satire until he is sore with laughter. Ribald isn't the word for this satiricle creation of Bruce Yerke which is helping to give Stf the needed kick in the fanny. The dictator of infernal internal affairs --- both gastric and material (ghastly isn't it) -- is a good Joe to the point of making one feel very blue if he or she isn't properly insulted. To tell yo old [truthe?], Jerky Yerke seldom scoops to insult a person who is not innocent! A dime for pages in the usual LA green.."
