During the afternoon, after University officials tried to persuade the demonstrators to leave, about 200 police and sheriff's deputies arrived and arrested the protesters one by one. The demonstrators gave passive resistance to the arrests. That evening, 108 people were arraigned on charges of disturbing the peace. eventually, 106 were found guilty and fined $50 or ten days in jail.
