Many weeks of planning have resulted in our accepting the obligation to publish regularly every week. We recognize that without weekly publication, regular as clockwork, most of the value of a newspaper such as this is lost. A two-page single sheet like this one will be the minimum format. Spare time and amount of advertising will determine whether additional pages will be mimeod. We hope to have some pleasant surprises in store for our faithful subscribers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our friends who have stuck with us. We hope to justify their faith in our little paper and would like to count on their continued support. NEW YORK CLUBS Continued. Fiction League. The first meeting will be held at Miss Schwimmer's home, 1370 College Ave., in the Bronx. The club will be mainly an informal discussion group for younger fans. The Queens Science Fiction League, organized in September of 1938, has resumed monthly meetings. Attendance in May was 11, in June it reached 17, 16 attended in July, and a record of 30 for the series was set at the August meeting. The first official meeting for the 1948-1949 season will be held at Volkert's Hall, 28-11 27th Street, Long Island City, on September 19, at 3:00 P.M. QUEENS SFL WARNS THAT SHAVERISM IS A MENACE TO ORGANIZED FANDOM At the meeting of the Queens Science Fiction League held on August 15 at Volkert's Hall, Long Island City, and attended by 30 members and guests, the following motion was carried by voice vote: "Resolved that the Shaver Mystery and the Shaver Mystery Club of N.Y. are diametrically opposed to the interests of science fiction, that the Queens SFL do everything in its power to oppose this travesty upon the American science fiction reading public, that definite action be taken at the next meeting to implement this motion, and that this decision shall be made public." "The resolution was moved by Martin Margulies and seconded by Ray van Houten and others. It was carried by a large majority. The QSFL Executive Committee is now studying the resolution and will make a recommendation at the next meeting. TUCKER DOES IT AGAIN! A. Wilson (Bob) Tucker has a new mystery novel just published. It is titled "The Dove" and continues the adventures of "Charles Horne" started in "The Chinese Doll" and renewed in "To Keep or Kill." The new novel has been published by W.B. Read and Company. It has received favorable comment from Craig Rice, famed mystery writer. Bob is past president of the NFFF and is now a director of the Fantasy Foundation.
