Aug 7, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, Hiya honey! How's the swellest girl in the world today? If you are as happy as I am you can't be too bad off. Hot as the very devil here today. Its 1:00 in the afternoon and thats the hottest part of the day anyway. Should cool down in a little while. Haven't done a thing since I last wrote. That is, anything important. My phone call finally got through the other night, but I was on guard and couldn't talk to him. Yesterday I guarded P.W.'s all day. That is not very exciting work. Here is some good news. We got our radio fixed up and its going full blast right now. Funny how much a radio can mean. Just got it last night so we haven't caught up with all the new songs as of yet. Golly honey, we have just heard about this new bomb. I imagine you have heard it called an atomic bomb. It must be a horrible thing. It scares me and its on our side. I haven't done a thing so far today.
