Aug 16, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, Hiya honey. Just couldn't help writing tonight after getting two letters from you this morning. They really gave my morale a shove. I was really needing it after yesterday. As you know, I was a bit on the sad side. Your letters were postmarked Aug 7&8. They made fairly good time considering the way some of them come. Was on guard until 4:00 this morning and didn't get to bed until about 5:00. Missed breakfast and slept until 10:00. Haven't done much since then but take naps. There is a cool breeze blowing so it was nice sleeping. I needed it to.
