Aug 24, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, Hiya honey! Here it is evening time again and I'm off for the night. In fact I haven't done a thing today, which is not bad either. Was on guard last night until 12:00. Came in and went to bed right away. I didn't sleep though honey cuz I was thinking so darned hard about you. I think I told you once before that those last few minutes just before going to sleep were about the happiest of the day. They are always devoted to you honey. Its a wonderful feeling to know you love me and I always go to sleep thanking God that we found each other. That was the best thing that ever happened to me. Didn't get up until 9:30 this A.M.
