Aug 29, 1945 My Dearest Evelyn, Hiya darling! I'm in rather a strange place to be writing letters tonight. To be truthful, I'm not even supposed to be writing while I'm here. You see, I'm on a guard out at a point two lines from camps. No one around but me so I stuck a little tablet in my pocket so I could write you at least a note anyway. I'm guarding a motor pool. Its nearly dark and there is a strong wind blowing. Could be spooky if I thought about it. I won't though cuz I'll be too busy thinking about you. It has been a miserable day. The
