JANUARY 9 1942. Only had car out to go to mailbox and Procknow's - but got stuck. Wind drifted front end of lane full again. Mended. Read in "Good Neighbors". 1943. Slept 12:30 to 1:45, when Wayne W. brought Pauline W. She + I talked till 5 slept till 8. Juanita here in AM. Pauline brought us a cake lamb. Baked bread. Hans phoned me from Wash. in eve. 1944. Awake 4-6, slept till 8. Rode to church + back with Cornwell's. Was Supt. at S.S. 49 there. Frank up at 3 after 1 1/2 days in bed. Out of soft water then no water till we put in new fuse. Pasted, wrote Hans, Dora, Pauline. 1945. We washed, me with left hand only! Hung all inside. Ironed some, made most of checked dress for Dorothy Bolin, + got nurse's uniforms started into rug. Hans had 1/2 hs. talk with Vice Pres. Wallace. Hans assured of going to Europe within month. 42 47 1946. Rainy + nasty all day. I feel punk, did little but rummage in trunk, work on scrapbooks + finish reading "The World, The Flesh, and Father Smith.
